Listen to article

Starlink is now available in the Philippines.

Starlink In Ph

The news broke after SpaceX, on its official Twitter page, announced that the internet service is now immediately available in the country.

SpaceX, Elon Musk’s space company, operates the satellite internet service that started launching Starlink satellites back in 2019. The service touts a no-contract service, low latency internet connection, and download speeds up to 200 Mb/s. Starlink also says that you can try the service for 30 days and return for a full refund of the hardware if you’re not satisfied.

You can now visit Starlink’s Map portal, 30 input your address, and place your order.

Starlink Ph

Upon inputting your address, the order form shows that the service has a fixed payment of Php 2,700 monthly, no contract, with a Php 29,320 fee for the hardware.

Starlink Plan

We earlier reported that, according to a Starlink representative, Starlink would come to the country by the end of 2022.

While the company wasn’t able to hit that 2022 promise, we’re still glad that the service is finally available in the Philippines today.

When you pre-order, it will ask for your location and tell you the availability in your area.

Please… keep politics out of this. I suspect you don’t even live in the Philippines. Find another venue to voice your opinion.

Finally, some big-boy internet services. I’m so tired of Smart/PLDT and Globe services. It’s impossible to run a viable business with good internet in the Philippines unless you’re in one of the big three urban centers (NRC, Cebu, or Davao). It’s been a struggle here on Siargao Island. Starlink can’t come soon enough…

Starlink may have an edge against the local internet providers but the costs that comes with acquiring its services is simply beyond most customers. That being said, Starlink’s services have, in the on going Russo-Ukraine War, also been utilized to serve the needs of the Western backed Ukraine Military for target acquisition against Russian Military assets in the battlefield.
In connection to this, I believe Starlink is being established ahead of time in the PH, in anticipation that the PH ( which is starting to look like a proxy for the US empire) may become a battlefield when war between the US & China breaks out.
