vivo just went big for its 30th anniversary, not with another smartphone, but with something totally new: the vivo Vision Discovery Edition, the brand’s first-ever mixed reality headset. vivo is officially stepping into spatial computing, making it the first Chinese tech company to dive into both smartphones and MR at the same time.
The headset is built for comfort, weighing only 398 grams, that’s 26% smaller than most rivals. Users get multiple fit options too, thanks to four light seals and eight foam paddings. Under the hood, it runs on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, promising 15% faster graphics and 20% better processing. Pair that with dual 8K Micro-OLED panels, precise eye tracking, and hand-gesture navigation, no controllers needed, and you’ve got a headset designed for all-day use.
But vivo didn’t stop there. The company also announced its next-gen imaging strategy. In partnership with ZEISS, vivo is enhancing zoom and low-light photography with in-house chips and AI. They’re even developing a portable eye-exam tool using telephoto macro lenses, blurring the line between imaging and healthcare. Plus, vivo has joined the C2PA coalition to help fight photo manipulation by certifying authentic images.
Big moves from vivo, and it looks like this is just the start.
