X developing feature to auto filter NSFW content

X is developing an automatic filter for NSFW content, providing admins in Communities with setting to toggle ‘Adult content’ as a feature in the platform.

Most social media platforms are known to be strict against NSFW content. It’s a thin line between prohibition and tolerance, as platforms try their best to balance how content creators express themselves.

An engineer on X shared a post to unveil their latest solution to this issue.

Currently, there is a feature in the works that will automatically filter Communities with NSFW content. Users of a certain age however, will be able to set their preferences to be able to view adult content.

In contrast, underage users should be oblivious to the change when it’s in effect. However, we surely hope no one informs them of how to toggle the filter in the future.

Ever since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform, X’s policies with content have been very loose. Many things of unease have caused users to leave and even move to Meta’s Threads platform through Instagram.

But nonetheless, the upcoming feature is surely an improvement from X’s current policies on content. The lax moderation of the platform is highly noticeable when compared to other social media platforms.

We’ve yet to see if this will be an effective method of moderation in X to filter for NSFW content. But if ever there’s any further development to this story, we’ll surely let readers know.
