Xiaomi’s latest top-of-line flagship, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, launched in China ahead of its global reveal at MWC. The phone features a quad-camera system co-developed with Leica, all with 50-megapixel sensors, and the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

The camera system takes center stage on the 14 Ultra. The phone ditches the bulky camera bump of its predecessor, opting for a sleek, gently sloping camera module at the upper center of its leather or glass back shell.

While the 50MP sensor combo (0.5x + 1x + 3.2x + 5x) remains unchanged, the main camera upgrades to the latest Sony LYT-900 sensor with improved design and faster processing. The 23mm lens retains its dual-aperture capability but offers a wider f/1.63 aperture, allowing for 136% more light compared to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The 14 Ultra’s “stepless aperture” mechanism suggests variable control between f/1.63 and f/4.0.

Adding to the camera prowess is AISP, Xiaomi’s first AI-powered computational photography platform. Features like ULTRA SNAP capture fleeting moments, ULTRA RAW offers high-quality uncompressed images, and ULTRA ZOOM provides enhanced digital zoom capabilities.

The platform supports 30x AI super zoom, 4K video recording at 120fps on the main camera, and full-focus 8K video across all lenses. Slow-motion recording and a Leica-inspired professional photography suite with customization options further enrich the camera experience.

On top of its 6.73-inch 2K OLED display is a “Shield Glass” claimed to be 10 times more drop-resistant and clearer than before. The display also curves slightly on all sides.

For improved heat dissipation, the phone incorporates a significantly larger vapor cooling chamber. Storage options range from 12GB RAM/256GB storage to 16GB RAM/1TB storage, all utilizing LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The device runs on Android 14-based HyperOS.

The device packs a 5300mAh internal battery with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. When paired with an optional camera grip, the battery capacity can be further expanded to 6800mAh.
