Yi Technologies has recently unveiled a more affordable action camera in the form of the Yi Lite Action camera.
The Yi Lite features a Sony IMX206 image sensor that can capture full 1080p HD videos and 16MP photos. Yi took into account the complaints from their previously-released action cameras for not having a built in screen as it now features a 2-inch Corning Gorilla Glass display.
It is also equipped with an electronic image stabilization system coupled with shooting modes such as Photo Mode, Burst Mode, Time lapse mode in 4K, and timer mode. This action camera also comes with Bluetooth and Dual-band Wi-Fi that can download 50Mbps and connect to your smartphone within 330ft. The Yi Lite can capture 4k videos but only at 15 fps while capturing 1080p videos could give you a rate of 60 frames per second.

The Yi Lite comes in three different colors: green, black, and blue. Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed but we can safely assume that the Yi Lite will cost less than its predecessors.

I have purchased this item as a Christmas gift for a nephew that was wanting a camera to mount on his helmet for riding ATVs. A go-pro was outside of my budget for this present, so I began searching for a good product to fill its spot. I ended up choosing this camera for a few reasons. 1.) This camera is waterproof. This is an important feature as trails can often be wet and muddy. I wanted something that would last. 2.) This camera offers a wireless connection. Anyone that has tried to point a camera that is fixed on their head and cannot see the screen will under stand the importance of this feature. There is no longer any guess-work as to if you have it mounted properly to capture the angle you want. 3.) Value. Other products that have a price point similar to this often have less than favorable reviews or are missing a lot of the functionality this offers. Other cameras that are built to a similar quality and have the same functionality come in at a higher price point.
