YouTube upgrades auto dubbing with more languages

Listen to article

YouTube is rolling out major improvements to its auto dubbing feature to make multilingual videos easier and more natural to watch. The platform currently enables creators to reach international audiences through its support of 27 different languages. YouTube reports that millions of users watch auto-dubbed content on their platform every day.

The main improvement of the upgrade brings Expressive Speech, which enables audio translation to maintain the original vocal patterns of the speaker. The new Preferred Language feature provides viewers with enhanced control because it enables them to select a dubbed language while having the option to return to the original audio.

YouTube is also trying out lip sync technology to improve the accuracy of matching mouth movements with dubbed speech. The system provides creators with smart filtering features that prevent them from dubbing content that doesn’t match their needs while allowing them to upload custom dubs or disable the feature.
