Intel is not the only one making a new powerful chipset marked with number 9.

AMD is rumored to be working on another Ryzen chip dubbed as the Ryzen 9 that’ll have up to 16 CPU cores. The rumored chipset is set to be the greatest offering of AMD following the Ryzen 7, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 3.

AMD Ryzen 9 1998X will be the company’s new top-of-the-line 155-watt desktop processor. It’s a 16-core CPU with hyperthreading for up to 32 threads. Each core has a base clock speed of 3.5GHz with a boost of up to 3.9GHz. Enthusiasts can manually overclock for better performance as AMD will release the new chip unlocked.
There will also be a 125-watt 10-core and 12-core, and 140-watt with 14 CPU cores variants.
