Today’s announcement of the M1 Ultra further strengthened Apple’s position in the desktop CPU.

M1 Ultra is basically a combination of two full M1 Max chips connected via die-to-die technology that Apple has named “UltraFusion.” With this type of combination, M1 Ultra is double that of M1 Max.

This recent dethroning doesn’t mean that M1 Max is now useless, M1 Max is still powerful if you’re going to compare it to a 10-core Intel Core i9 chip inside an iMac.
