Android 12 Go Edition now official

Google has announced its newest OS version variation tailored for entry-level devices, the Android 12 Go Edition.

To recap, Android Go Edition was first launched in 2017 to help more people access Android and Google through affordable, entry-level phones.

According to Google, the recent release of the Android 12 Go Edition creates a faster, smarter, and more privacy-friendly experience for users than its predecessor. Moreover, the company is also making these phones more accessible by improving features for multilingual users and introducing new ones that keep data costs in mind.

Check out some of the new features below.

• Google claims that Android 12 Go Edition apps will launch up to 30% faster and with smoother animation. The company also created the SplashScreen API to provide a consistently smooth experience when users launch their apps.
• It will also automatically save battery life and storage by hibernating inactive apps. Meanwhile, the updated Files Go app will let you recover files within 30 days, so you can confidently delete unnecessary files to free up space in the meantime.

• Google said that it also comes with more intelligent features to help users understand content easier. By navigating to the recent apps screen, users will see options to listen to the news and translate any on-screen content into their preferred language.
• With this, users will save data by sharing apps directly with nearby devices using Nearby Share and Google Play.
• Google also simplifies the guest user experience on Android 12 Go Edition by making profiles available directly on the lock screen. Users will be able to easily switch to a guest profile before sharing their device and reset it once they’re done.
• They also add a new privacy dashboard to give users more transparency around apps accessing their data and more controls to decide how much private information their apps can access.

Watch out for these upcoming features on new devices launching with Android 12 Go Edition in 2022.
