DaVinci Resolve for iPad coming by the end of 2022

Blackmagic Design has just announced that DaVinci Resolve will be coming to the iPad by Q4 of 2022 via Apple’s App Store as a free download.

DaVinci Resolve Studio for iPad will also be available as an in-app purchase for an expected cost of USD 95. Blackmagic Cloud is also supported to allow creators to collaborate with others.

They stated that it will be “Optimized for MultiTouch Technology and Apple Pencil”.

They further stated that it will be optimized for Apple Silicon with DaVinci Resolve being able to deliver 4x faster Ultra Hd ProRes render performance on the new M2 iPad Pro.

DaVinci Resolve for iPad will also be able to output to external displays such as the Apple Studio Display, Pro Display XDR, or an AirPlay-compatible display.

They also stated that DaVinci Resolve will be able to create standard DaVinci Resolve projects that are also compatible with the desktop version of DaVinci Resolve 18.

2 Davinci Resolve For Ipad

Supported file formats include H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes, and Blackmagic RAW with users being able to import directly from the iPad, iCloud, or external USB-C drives.

However, DaVinci Resolve for iPad is said to not feature the Fairlight audio page or the Fusion visual effects page due to not having been redesigned for the iPad as of the moment but it is also expected to come at a later date.

  • Supports multi-user collaboration via Blackmagic Cloud.

  • Supports clips from iPad storage, Photos library and iCloud.
  • Import clips from external USB-C disks.
  • Works with Apple Pencil, Magic Trackpad, Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio.
  • External monitoring via Apple Studio Display, Pro Display XDR or an AirPlay display.
  • Supports HDR display on 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the M1 chip.
  • Compatible with iPadOS 16 or newer.
