Google News Showcase now allows access on select paywalled content

Google has recently announced its new updates on the News Showcase feature, enhancing user experience and bringing in access to select paywalled news outlets.

In partnership with select news publishers, Google ovide limited access to paywalled content for News Showcase users. However, users will need to register with the news publisher to build a relationship with readers.

The latest News Showcase panel now includes a list of pre-selected articles daily by the user’s preferred publishers. A user that follows a news outlet covering their local news will see daily updates on the most important local stories selected by that newsroom. National and local relevant publications will also be shown on the For You feed.

There’s also a dedicated area to explore new News Showcase publications within Newsstand on Google News.

Google will also add News Showcase metrics in Search Console so publishers may have more data in determining which articles and topics are relatable to the users.

To bring quality news content to more audience, News Showcase is now available on Google News iOS users. It is also coming to news.google.com and Discover soon.

Currently, Google has over 400 active news publication partners. The News Showcase feature is now available in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, France, U.K., and Australia. Google is now working out to roll out the feature soon in other countries.
