Qualcomm has officially announced that its next-generation flagship mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, will be unveiled at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit, scheduled from September 23 to 25, 2025, in Hawaii. This marks a shift from the company’s traditional October release timeline, aiming to provide Android manufacturers a competitive edge ahead of the holiday season.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to deliver significant performance improvements over its predecessor. Built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm (N3P) process, the chipset will feature a 6+2 CPU configuration and an upgraded Adreno GPU, reportedly offering up to a 30% increase in graphics performance. Additionally, the new processor will incorporate Arm’s v9 instruction set and Qualcomm’s Nuvia CPU cores, contributing to enhanced efficiency and processing power.
Leaked benchmarks suggest a 26% uplift in AnTuTu scores compared to the previous generation, indicating a substantial leap in processing capabilities.
Following the chipset’s unveiling, several major smartphone manufacturers are anticipated to integrate the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 into their upcoming flagship devices. Brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, and Motorola are expected to launch smartphones powered by the new SoC as early as October 2025, aligning with the holiday shopping season.
Notably, the Xiaomi 16 series, including the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro, is expected to be among the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, followed by flagship models from brands such as OnePlus, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, and iQOO.
The early release of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 underscores Qualcomm’s strategic move to provide Android OEMs with cutting-edge technology ahead of the competition, ensuring that flagship devices are equipped with the latest advancements in mobile processing power. This proactive approach aims to bolster the Android ecosystem’s competitiveness, particularly in anticipation of rival releases such as Apple’s A19 chip in the iPhone 17 series.
