Steam Summer Sale Guide (2017): The best deals so far




The Steam Summer Sale kicked off last June 23, and some of the deals on games are just too good to pass up. Here are some of the best offers we found on the gaming distribution platform:

Individual Games

1.) Mafia III – Php536.50 (63% off)

Take control of the streets of New Bordeaux Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran who seeks to take revenge for the murder of his family. At roughly a third of its original price, it’s definitely a steal.

2.) FTL: Faster Than Light – Php78.98 (75% off)

Ever wanted to be the captain of your very own spaceship? For less than Php100, now you can! (On your computer, at least.) Though the hardware requirements are very low, the level of difficulty on this game is not. Nonetheless, it should provide you with hours and hours of fun.

3.) Grand Theft Auto V – Php999.50 (50% off)

This game is MASSIVE. While it is still quite pricey at 50 centavos shy of 1000 pesos, it really is quite a steal for what you’re getting. You’re gonna have a blast creating havoc with Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.

4.) Dishonored – Php115.00 (75% off)

If you are into stealth games, alternate history settings, and a fantasy Victorian Era, Dishonored is here for you at only Php115. This is really one of the best stealth games out there, giving its players freedom in their approaches to missions, aided by sneaking, guns, blades, and even magic.

5.) Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor – Php99.99 (80% off)

Taking the gargantuan task of creating an original story that exists within J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe, this is definitely one of the best games released in the 2010s. Here we have yet another great game at the sub 200 peso price range. For those who have never played this game, you are sure to have the time of your life battling it out with armies of orcs, being enthralled by the great story, and experiencing the Nemesis System that the game implements.

6.) Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – Php152.00 (80% off)

Released as a standalone prequel to Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, play as Snake in this masterpiece of a game universe crafted by none other than the legendary Hideo Kojima.

7.) Outlast – Php74.00 (85% off)

This deal is perfect for horror fans on a budget who are looking for a truly next-level terrifying experience. A true bargain at 74 pesos.

8.) Tomb Raider – Php147.00 (75% off)

Step into the shoes of adventurer-archaeologist extraordinaire Lara Croft as Tomb Raider explores her origin story, from young woman to hardened survivor.

9.) To the Moon – Php63.00 (80% off)

Time to get out that box of tissue, this game WILL bring tears down your face! To the Moon is a story about a dying man’s last with – artificially fulfilled by two doctors. A great sound track paired with that sub 100 peso price tag, you will not regret experiencing this truly amazing game.

10.) Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes – Php138.58 (67% off)

You find yourself alone in a room. A ticking bomb is in front of you. What do you do? KTANE is a ridiculously fun local cooperative game to play with your friends and family. One player defuses the bomb, while the other/s guide them. The catch is, they cannot see the bomb. Communication is key in this game, and it’s a must have for hang out sessions with friends.

11.) Abzu – Php149.98 (70% off)

Literally and figuratively, Abzu is quite the immersive adventure. Take a dive into the vibrant, beautiful, and deep ocean as The Diver using graceful swimming controls, meeting hundreds of species of ocean fauna, forming powerful and meaningful connections with them. Beware though, for danger lurks in these waters.

Game Bundles

Aside from the standalone deals mentioned above, there are also quite a few bundles with great value:

1.) Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Complete – Php352.00 (92% off)

Those who have played this game enough can attest to the fact that it’s a far better experience with all the DLC’s. Regarded as one of the best 4X turn-based strategy series of all time, getting Civ 5 AND all the expansions might be the best bargain of the entire lot. Take it.

2.) The Witcher Trilogy – Php845.07 (61% off)

Play as Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher; a monster hunter who uses their supernatural abilities to battle deadly monsters. This series of games is action-packed, immersive, and story-driven. The total price of this bundle is even less than that of the full price of one of the games, making it a steal for anyone looking to play these games.

3.) Valve Complete Pack – Php506.03 (91% off)

Probably the craziest deal of this entire list. You get 19 Valve games. 19! This collection includes the likes of the Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike, and Portal games, and then some! Yes, it even includes CS:GO. Take note that buying all of these games at full price would cost a total of Php5855.05. Go for it.

4.) Bethesda Softworks Classics Superbundle – Php2732.98 (74% off)

Again, another massive bundle from a single video game company. Having more recent releases, the price is steeper than the previous deal, but you are getting a bundle of 20 games. Included games include some Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Quake, and Heretic games, as well as some older classics.

5.) Crysis Collection – Php279.98 (75% off)

The Crysis series is a collection of some of the best games in the sci-fi and first person shooter genres. Despite being a little older, these games are still to this day, some of the most graphically demanding titles. This is a steal for those that have the hardware to handle it.

6.) Hitman: The Complete First Season – Php1011.50 (66% off)

An absolute legend in the genre of stealth games. Be the master assassin Agent 47 in the latest iteration of the Hitman series, as you travel from destination to destination, coming up with new and creative ways of eliminating your target.  This is a really good bargain at the third of the price.
