Globe and Smart have issued a public advisory that they will be temporarily shut down mobile phone services in Manila today, January 9, 2017, as part of security measures during the Black Nazarene procession. If you are wondering why there's no cellular signal around Quiapo and neighboring areas from Globe and other telcos today, it's because they've cut off signal for security reasons as we celebrate the Black Nazarene. The President has earlier made an announcement that terror threats have been raised to coincide with the feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo. RIM fought back and introduced its first touch screen device -- the Blackberry Strom (9530). That's despite the fact that back in June 2008, Blackberries were selling more than twice as many as the iPhone 3G. It also has mobile streaming, allows tethering to your laptop to share internet and can sync your desktop iTunes music files using BlackBerry Media Sync.
