GCash has partnered with government agencies to launch digital payment options for the MRT-3 line. This allows passengers to tap in and out of MRT-3 using QR codes, NFC, and debit or credit cards. To use the new system, commuters can simply open the GCash app. GCash cards, Visa, Mastercard, and Landbank prepaid cards are also supported at select turnstiles. The pilot rollout was held at MRT-3’s One Ayala Station, attended by key officials. This included DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, BSP Monetary Board Member Walter Wassmer, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, Landbank President Lynette Ortiz, and GCash CEO Martha Sazon. GCash users can learn more by opening the app and tapping the Commute button. Commuters can now access the 50% fare discount on MRT-3 using GCash, as part of the government’s push to ease transportation costs amid rising prices.
