On April 28, Globe suffered a disruption which affected its services like voice, SMS, and data. Instead, Globe is focusing on making sure its service is consistent, easy to get, and affordable for every Filipino. Globe Telecom has officially partnered with Starlink to bring Direct to Cell (DTC) satellite service to the Philippines, making it the first telco in Southeast Asia to offer this breakthrough technology. Globe says the service will help cover the remaining 4% of the population, or around 4.8 million people, who currently lack terrestrial network coverage. With Globe as its local partner, the service is expected to provide reliable backup coverage that works similarly to roaming. Globe is set to announce that they will be offering Starlink's Direct to Cell service in the Philippines. As the first mobile operator in the Philippines to market Starlink’s Direct to Cell (DTC) service, Globe is leveraging space-based technology to reach the most geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas of our archipelago.
