Mobile network giant Globe Telecom announced that it had activated 4,300 new LTE-TDD and LTE-FDD cell sites around the country as part of their current infrastructure upgrade program. The said upgrade, according to Globe, is needed to accommodate the increasing demand for smartphones and other data-capable devices. Globe also touts to have better latency levels compared to arch rival Smart Communications by 99 percent, clocking their network's latency speeds at 93.3 milliseconds, according to an OpenSignal report. Globe AT HOME is giving eligible customers free internet speed boosts of up to 1Gbps along with free WiFi 6 modem upgrades to help improve home connectivity for work, school, and entertainment. Subscribers whose current modem cannot support the upgraded speeds may also upgrade to a WiFi 6 modem for free, but with a required 24-month relock period. “In solidarity with the government’s call for energy conservation, Globe AT HOME is committed to making the remote work and education experience as seamless as possible,” said Abigail Cardino, Vice President and Head of Brand Management for Broadband Business at Globe.
