The standard iPhone 15 took the top spot as the most shipped smartphone last year. It had 3% share of the estimated 1.22 billion global smartphone shipments in 2024. The latest iPhone 16 Pro Max followed second, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max came in third. Despite its age, the iPhone 13 (released from 2021) managed to secure the tenth spot, with 1.5% share of the total global smartphone shipments. While they both get 18% of market share in the entirety of 2024, both saw a 1% decline in shipments. After over two weeks of using the iPhone 3G, I can fairly say I have become familiar with this mobile device to share some insights on how it fares as a primary mobile phone. In a way, I regard the iPhone 3G primarily as an internet device and media player that has the cute feature allowing you to make calls and send SMS. That being said, if you are a heavy SMS user, then the iPhone is not for you.
