LG Electronics Korea has announced that it will update the LG G6, V20, and G5 smartphones to Android 8.0 Oreo, providing the said devices with improvements and new features. The Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade will provide the said devices with improved performance, as well as new features like PIP (Picture In Picture), and support for high-resolution audio. Thankfully, it looks like LG hasn't forgotten about their flagship as even though the LG V30 and V30+ are already out on the market, they're still planning on keeping the G6 up to date with an Oreo release. The report came from a Chinese forum user, who provided screenshots of his G6 running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo platform. Supported models of the beta include: LGM-G600L LGM-G600S LGM-G600K LGM-G600LR LGM-G600SR LGM-G600KR LGM-G600LP LGM-G600SP LGM-G600KP LG-H870 Software Version: V19A LG-H870U Software Version: V19A Although this beta Oreo build is reportedly only available in China with no news or word from LG on whether it'll be released to other countries. HMD Global has revealed that all of their Android smartphones will be upgraded to Android Oreo. Android 8.0 Oreo became official late last month and smartphone brands have already announced their upgrade plans for their current devices.
