Have you always wondered why earphones are needed to make the built-in FM tuner to work on cellphones? They double as an external antenna but LG's GB230 Wireless FM phone tells us you really don't need one. The LG GB230 is an entry-level phone so don't expect a lot of bells and whistles with this one -- no 3G (just GPRS/EDGE), no WiFi, or GPS. What it boasts is the FM tuner feature that no longer needs those unwieldy earphones to function. LG Mobile wants to bring touch-screen phones to the mass market so it's introducing an "affordable", full touchscreen handset, the LG KP500, sometime end of October. Aside from the FM-tuner, 8GB storage via microSD card and Bluetooth there's not much else to expect from this phone. Why a crippled touchscreen phone though? Or at least, people who crave for expensive touch-screen phones but can't afford them can do so now.
