Frequently Asked Questions

Has NAIA been rated as a bad airport?

In May 2022, a study by Bounce ranked NAIA as the worst among 38 business class airports globally, scoring 0.88 out of 10. It scored low on destinations served, on-time performance, and Skytrax rating. The DOTr defended NAIA, questioning the study's basis, noting it is a destination airport, not a hub, and highlighting improvements like an 83% on-time performance in 2019, up from 40% in 2016.

What are the transportation options available at NAIA?

Several transport services operate at NAIA. These include the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), which initially opened for free in September 2016 connecting terminals. GrabCar was officially accredited to pick up passengers from designated booths at all terminals starting March 2016. A premium 24/7 airport bus service (UBE Express) also runs to Roxas Boulevard and Makati City for a flat rate of ₱300.

Are there any passenger fees waived at NAIA?

Yes. Starting April 30, 2017, the International Passenger Service Charge (terminal fee) of ₱550 was waived for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), pilgrims, and Philippine Sports Commission delegates upon face-to-face ticket purchase. The waiver was extended to online purchases by the end of July 2017.
