Sony has just signed an agreement with Niantic, Inc, which develops augmented reality mobile games, for a joint collaboration in the area of auditory AR for headphones. Niantic, the developer of games such as Pokemon GO and Ingress, which utilize AR applications for mobile devices, and is expanding its services around the world. Niantic has recently announced its new partnership with Nintendo to develop mobile titles built on Niantic's real-world AR technology. Niantic and Nintendo are working on developing an app based on the Pikmin franchise. Niantic mentioned that the app would include gameplay activities to encourage walking and outdoor activities. According to Niantic, Pokemon GO users will have to get out and walk "in order to earn entry into the GO Battle League, then battle opponents from around the globe through an online matching system and rise in the ranks of the league." The GO Battle League is set to launch in the Pokemon GO app by early 2020. Developed by Portkey Games, Warner Brothers, and Niantic, Wizards Unite will have users roaming around their neighborhood to play the game, similar to Pokemon Go, another title developed by Niantic. Niantic, developers of Pokemon Go, released the second installment of their first augmented reality game, called Ingress Prime.
