Ookla has released their Speedtest Global Index report for September, showing the Philippines having the 5th fastest internet in Southeast Asia for fixed broadband. According to Ookla's report, the Philippines got a Median download speed of 78.69 Mbps (Median upload of 74.91 Mbps), putting it in 5th place. "The Philippines has been steadily climbing in the rankings on the Speedtest GlobalIndex," said Sylwia Kechiche, principal analyst at Ookla. "This is on account of the Philippine operators' investments to modernize and upgrade their copper infrastructure and the active migration of customers to fiber, as well as connecting many first-time users." When it comes to Mobile, the Philippines has a Median download of 22.54 Mbps and an upload of 5.65 Mbps. "The Philippines’ continuous rise in the Speedtest Global Index is a result of the long-term investments and hard work of all the telco operators in the country.
