Qualcomm teased an upcoming Snapdragon X chip made for budget-friendly Windows-powered devices during their Investor Day event. While nothing has been made official, Qualcomm developing more options catered to users’ budgets says a lot on its own. At the moment, Qualcomm offers PCs with the Snapdragon X Elite with a 12-core CPU. The most notable thing announced from the event is that Qualcomm will be including their NPU for the base Snapdragon X. NPUs are usually included in higher-end chips, so this gives Qualcomm some leverage in the future. Qualcomm is reportedly preparing to launch a new mid‑range powerhouse chipset, codenamed SM8845, that aims to bridge the gap between its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and the forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. According to the leak, the SM8845 will be manufactured on TSMC’s advanced N3P 3nm process and feature Qualcomm’s high‑performance Oryon CPU cores—two prime cores paired with six additional performance cores.
