Tradeport and Samsung Philippines launched this joint partnership for a Netflix-like, Bluray rental service last week and calls it BluePass. TradePort basically owns all the 500+ Bluray titles which it rents out to all Samsung users (that is if you bought a Samsung Bluray player or an LCD TV combo). According to a source, it was actually Philips that's supposed to be the partner for BluPass. We're not sure why it eventually landed on Samsung's lap but the service sure does make for a compelling reason to buy a Bluray player. The card is actually free when you buy Samsung products (the idea is that you'll like the service to pay for the renewals in the future). The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official.
