Samsung has unveiled two new mobile image sensors, the 200MP ISOCELL HPI and 50MP ISOCELL GN5. For enhanced low-light photography, the image sensor is also equipped with Samsung’s ChameleonCell technology and pixel-binning technology that switches between 2x2, 4x4, or a full pixel resolution depending on the environmental conditions. In addition, it combines the Dual Pixel Pro with Samsung’s proprietary Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI), which allows for brighter images in low-light conditions. “Samsung has been pioneering ultrafine pixel technologies that are taking high-resolution image sensors to the next level,” said Duckhyun Chang, executive vice president of sensor business at Samsung Electronics. Samsung has introduced two new image sensors for smartphones - the 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1, and the 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM2. The ISOCELL Bright GW1 with a 64MP image sensor features the highest resolution in Samsung’s 0.8?m-pixel image sensor lineup. According to Samsung, the dynamic range of a conventional image sensor is at around 60dB, while that of the human eye is typically considered to be around 120dB.
