YouTube has just announced that the YouTube Music app will enable background playback for free. Previously, background playback was only available for users who subscribe to YouTube Premium. This update allows people to continuously listen to music even when they exit the YouTube Music app. This free version is ad-supported and will feature a “radio-like” experience, according to YouTube. Google Assistant driving mode also will be available for a hands-free YouTube Music experience.
