Free 100 SMS from Smart when you reload

Listen to article

Got wind of this from a contact last week. So it’s true that Smart has this promo of free 100 text message when you reload Php300 and Php500 call cards.

At first, I was told that Smart wanted to do some experiment in blog marketing and wanted to the word out 72 hours before they officially advertise this promo. It looks like Smart is feeling the Philippine blogging atmosphere and wanted to how much reach we have as bloggers.

A day after that, I got an email from a reader asking:

may kilala ba kau sa smart? just wanna confirm f its true when u buy call n text cards, u get free 100 text na smart 2 smart. yung friend ko kc nakakuha ng text pero until sunday lang daw ito. i want to know. thanks

Yesterday, I reloaded Php300 to my Smart number but I didn’t know what else to do in order to get that allegedly free SMS credits. Just a few minutes ago, I got a message from Smart Alert:

You have received 100 Smart to Smart text valid for 60 days! Thank you for loading.

Nice.

Hhmm… is that applicable for eload 300pesos or does it have to be a PIN/e-PIN? Just an hour ago which is before I read this post, I loaded my Smart number with SmartLoad 300 but I got no message about the SMS. Any feedback about this?

This isn’t a new promo. Way back in the age of no electronic load/credits (ca. 2000) where the lowest denomination was Php100, the regular cards at Php300 had 100 free text messages to any network, (if I recall it right), and much more for the Php500 denomination.

They got greedy and reduced the free texts and sold it as “e-load smart-to-smart” credits only. Greed, I tell you. Greed. LOL

oh, gad. i’m THIS close to switching to smart, honestly. i’m so envious of the P1.00/mms rate. :( too bad my husband uses globe. must convince him to switch soon!

Globe ako, pero nawala SIM ko. Is it time to switch to SMART? SMART na siguro talaga para flat rate na at hindi per kilobyte ang GPRS internet (can’t afford a 3G phone).
