Just read from the newspaper this afternoon that Globe Telecoms will be permanently offering unlimited NDD calls from Globe landlines to any number in their network (fixed lines, mobiles phones TNT, G, etc.). That beats PLDT’s unlimited Php10USD 0.17INR 14EUR 0.16CNY 1/call any day.
The Globe PostPaid Plus package also includes unlimited internet access to GlobeQUEST Dial. All that for a fixed price of Php750USD 13INR 1,083EUR 12CNY 93 per month. Regular landline subscribers will need to upgrade to this service plan while new subscribers are automatically upgraded.
I forgot the rest of the details but if you’re interested, you can call them at (02) 79SUPRT (797.87.78) if you’re in Metro Manila or 1800-8-79SUPRT (1800-8-7978778), toll-free from your Globelines or Handyphone.
Their website for dial-up subscribers isn’t updated with this info though.

Globe will be coming up with its Wireless Broadband next week!
Its a wireless voice and wireless broadband two in one dubbed as Speak N’ Surf!
Well, its only available in the new expansion areas like Pasay City, QC, Manila, Paranaque, Alabang. Existing wired areas are not covered by Speak N Surf!
webby says:
Yup its true, Globelines will offer “Speak n Surf†unlimited wireless broadband connection using a wifi signal and a wifi phone (correct me if im wrong—hmmm if I bring my wifi phone to the office and have wifi signal, endless possibilities hehehe—Again, no more telephone lines since it’s a wifi phone hehehe again). Fortunate for me, I can avail of the service next week, just need two valid IDs, billing statement and approval for their technical support group that it is feasible to have their service in my area (how? they will test the strength of their wifi signal from their tower, tower as they call it not the base station hehehe).
Here’s the catch:
1. landline phone and wireless internet broadband connection bundled into one, pay only P995/month
2. lock-in period is two years but if they can’t restore the service within the 7 days period (they will refund your initial cash outlay)
3. they will not approve your application if they don’t get enough signal on your location.
4. well-trained technical support and customer service from Globelines (i.e. globequest)
5. published speed of 254kbps (unlike the published speed of Smartwifi which is 384kbps–tell me guys if you have reached this speed)
Now, we have choices, we have the power… about the pre-termination charges, hmmm I don’t care. ☺

Wow galing ng Globe, When the speak n surf unit arrived di ko rin alam bat ayaw ng modem. So i called 9198888 doon sa phone nila (the phone was working agad). they gave me instructions and behold “Ang Galing!”. initial broadband test ko ay 1500+ Kbp. T1 speed. pero soon naging around 300. 256 naman ang promise nila so ok lang. Sana ma upgrade yun speed. Thanks. at may 500 text pa yun phone to other SnS phone and globe handy phone, kaya sulit na rin.

wala talagang kwenta! call center reps ng globelines can’t even give status on when my phone line will be activated it’s been 2 weeks 3 days!
mon says:
okay naman po ang SnS, big savings..imagine u can call/text your landline(office and home)/ instead of cellphone while on the road..may kasama pang surfing while driving. Speed is fair although di kasing bilis ng broadband. Sometime ang landline is quite choppy if you’re out of site e.g. tunnel, under the bridge. hope innove will provide a cellphone type of unit medyo portable just like Span of Bayantel. U can bring em inside your carn use it if u have an inverter. Im having fun using both of them while away.

I am a techncial support person and also a Network Administrator. I live in BF Resort in Las Pinas. A few months ago, may nag- house to house at nag drop ng flyer sa amin. One day nandun sila sa bahay labas namin at tinawagan ako sa office, at that momment, and linaw ng line parang nasa kapitbahay lang. I have not tested the Internet yet, of cource. All these happened in Oct-Nov 2006. Its now january 2007 and I plan to subscribe to SnS. The reseller is Stearle, based in Bicutan area, malapit sa Better Living area.
With your comments iba-iba nababasa ko. I am a very technical person and I assume I can make this work. I agree pag tumawag ka sa call center kung anu-anong bullshit sasabihin sa yo at recorded response na alng yung binabsa nila sa papel.
I hope more peole can post techincal details like genetal location, date, time of day na ginagamit, anything na pwede pag basehan ng troubleshooting then we can get the idea.

I applied Jan 13, I called several times, wala pa raw sa database ng Globe/Innove ang name ko.
After 7 days, tuamwag ako sa Helpline, dun pa alng naw naipasok name ko. It took 7 days for Stearlene to encode it. !!!!
The phone and modem were deliver after 2-3 days. Pero of course parehong DEAD, as expected. I read the manuals, techie details as much as possible. I configured everything pero DEAD pa rin. I called the HelpLine, waala maitulong kahit ano — puro “I will log this in the report”. As I have said, I am a very techincal person pero wala talaga e. Yun phone ko eventually pianlita, I went to Festival mall pero wala sila maipalit. Before that nagpa schedule ako ng home visit para maipamukha ko sa kanila na defective yung service at hind ako yung defective. To be honest, I am more techncially competent kesa sa Helpline nila. On the second day, nagpapunta ako ng tech support sa bahay, confirmed, defective yung unit kasi hindi configured sa ROM yung data. when I checked sa MY HONE NUMBER, ang laman nung field e 000002503 something. This should be all zeroes, 0000000000. Proof na misconfigured or not configured at all.
The only way to configure it is to use a hyperterm cable na ikinakabit sa DATA port sa gilid. Yung may nakabarang rubber. pero this is a reserved job for the Innnove guys. Kung marunong kayo amg tech support, Im very sure you can fix this, but you’ll need to have the pertinent data para ma pa work ito.
In the end, Innove replaced my handset with a new one — eto configured na.
Wala ako maitang significant difference, pwero I will observe baka nga may significant difference.
I have 2 desktops, and one notebook. na try ko na sa notebook and 1 desktop, ok naman so far.
If you want to exchange ideas, just YM me — om****@****.*** .. I can even provide technical insignhts. Or baka ako maka hingi rin sa inyo ng inputs.
Im tired typing. Whew. I think I’ll switch back to English. There.
Hmnn. Everytime I call the Helpline, i take note of the date and time (timestamp),a nd the name of the person. Then I get their response. i write them down on my logbook. yes, I use logbook. Then I email to the Area Sales manager responsible for the Las Pinas area. and CC: ****@****.*** and customerser****@****.*** — I write all issues I encounter and I quote the responses Ir eceive from the Helpline. And even from the techie.
Wala silang lusot sa akin. They evenn saya mabagal ang internet ebcause of the Tawain earthquke — This is abig bull. kahit DNS lang mabagal e. Umaabot sa 4500ms and ping.
When I try loading the ww.globelines.com.ph websit ita eks 4-5 minutes to load all jpgs and text. E di local loop lang yun. Has nothing to do with taiwan. Bottomline .. The technical support and the helpline do not know what they are talking about.
And for those who say na tanga yung mga users na nagkaakproblem, i beg to disagree. Sns in itself is problematic. The prduct was launched prematurely. I hope that globe beefs up the facility soon.
EYM me for questions. I’ll be happy to reply. Send me your inputs also baka ako naman may mapulot na ideas. para maka ok yung conneciton ko.
I dont have the data cable. But if I can get one, I might bea ble to paly arund the settings. yung port e standard port, NOT proprietary daw so pag may cable, we can see the settings.

Gecko was right ! Globe SnS SUCKS ! It take me 7 days para ma activate yung phone ko , sabi sa akin ng agent nila this will last only 2 days. Not only that , when my SnS was activated yung phone lang ang activated sa akin and not my internet connection. So I called there technical support ( it took me 52 minutes ) , I told them that my Internet was not activated , they promise that they have an ongoing issue. But the most TTTEERRRIIIBBLLLEEE !! thing that their FU***** agents done ay mag offer sa amin ng SnS sa area namin which is not covered by their SnS talga. Good thing na sinabi sa akin ng technical support representative nila na hindi nila covered and area ko and nagtataka sila bakit may SnS ako , another thing that I’ve found out is iba and billing address ko at address kung saan naka install yung modem ko. Sabi nung tech na nakausap ko ay dapat pareho ang address ng billing at kung saan naka install yung modem ko ( which means na dapat malapit sa base station nila ) , I found out na dun pala sa address nung SnS agent naka register yung address. What a BULLSH** !!
Not only that , what I do is to ask for a ” REFUND ” so I call customer service , sabi nila its not possible daw kc dapat within the 7 days after ko matanggap yung unit atsaka ko isoli sa service center. Do you think that is reasonable ? How can I test their service if my unit is not activated and na-activate lang sya after 7 days ? I think I am not the only one who experience this issue. Cguro kung di maayos tong problema ko sa Globe SnS , I have to take legal actions talga ! – if you have any comments or suggestions please email me at brian****@****.***

i’ve been a subscriber of speak and surf since May 9. i guess its not all that bad. depends maybe on the area. the processing of the subscription was exceptional, the unit was given right then and there after the approval of the subscription. the unit was activated 24hours after. although the quality of the voice service was not as good as the usual wired landline, i think its OK. speed was OK although not impressive. overall, its not as bad as some would say it is.
i’d even like to commend the people at globelines UN avenue for the good service.
nothing says:
SNS sucks big time, especially their upload rate, i only have 6kbps for upload which is very very very bad for gaming. Magswitch na lang ako sa SmartBro or PLDTMydsl.
Ed says:
I hope that they will migrate all present 256kbps SNS to the 384kbps modem soon, especially that they are now offering this to their newer subscribers ( I signed up only last April).
Their rather disappointing speeds is tempting me to consider another telco, especially if wired DSL is made available in my place.
But I found wireless internet to be the wave of the future, and I’m now comfortable with it for the simple reason that I don’t need to bore holes in the house just to bring the cables in.
Bilis lang ang isyu sa SNS. If this is resolved, I have no more reason to go back to a wired connection.

p.s. i clicked on submit and it said no connection page cannot be displayed kaya nakapagdagdag pa ko ng comment.

I’m going to get an SnS and I hope I get the good end of it, I just replied para mkbigay ng difference ng ethernet and usb.
