Globelines Broadband at 2Mbps

Got home this evening to find pamphlets at my doorstep from . Apparently they are now offering connections to residential areas with speeds of up to 2Mbps. Sweet.

Here are the DSL rates and prices:

* I think the GenTxt plan is for students. Not sure about it but looks very similar to the PLDT DSL student rate before (Plan 998 or something). And read this — a Globelines landline subscription is NOT a prerequisite to Globelines broadband.

The 2Mbps under Explore Gold plan did took most of my attention. Really, really nice to have something like that at home all by myself. And to think that only last year, I was paying GreenDot Php2,750USD 47INR 3,973EUR 45CNY 341 for a mere 256kbps connection.

  1. yay hopefully PLDT doubles its bandwiths because of this, im sure they can do it easily. i want my 2mbps!

  2. Several Netopia branches offer 2 Mbps internet. Such branch is at Ali mall, Araneta center, Cubao.

    It used it to download 3/4’s of MP3’s (podcasts) to listen on my MP3 capable DVD player, maybe the speed is overkill for that purpose but for the latest Linux distro or that video torrent, it is very cool.

  6. I can see only there download speed but what is there upload speed for Explore Silver and Gold. As the Express Unlimited and Gentxt Unlimited has only 128kbps upload speed but the actual speed is really 20kBps which is by far not bad as 128kbps is only equal to 16kBps. I’ve subscribed to Express Unlimited and that’s what I’ve experience so far. As of now I’m applying for Explore Silver because the Explore Gold is not yet available as of now until next year 2006 or after Christmas as they are still upgrading their system. It would be nice to have a 2mbps as it is cheap but i’ll not waste my money until I can get a proper job. I’m still a student you know… lol… rofl…

    for hardcore downloader – I would definitely recommend Explore Gold… you can download movies, games, etc. in a fast rate which is about 2mbps and about 250kBps..

    kbps = kilobits per second
    kBps = kilobytes per second
    mbps = megabits per second

    Your actual download base will be the kBps which you will see as 38.3 kB/s when downloading or something like that. As you can see they base their pricing on bits so when they say 384 kbps, you just actually divide it by 8. So 384/8 is equal to 48 but your actual download will only be just 38.xx due to PPP.

  7. i’ve availed of the express unlimited plan (995/384kbps). the speed is very good. the lowest speed i’ve experienced was about 280kbps and the fastest was about 1027kbps. always you get connected with just one click. another good thing about globe’s broadband was that it uses a splitter so that your landline is free even if your connected.

    overall, i’m happy with globe’s broadband!

    regarding your third question…if you do have 2 computers and you want to share internet connection, you need to have a router connected to the modem and both your computers will be connected to the router.

  11. you can get a router from any computer store.. i recommend linksys. i’m not sure of the price..i think mga 4k+ un.

  12. hey!!! gud day!!! i need piece of advice about wifi connection… kung alin un mas magaling globe or pldt.. kc may bad expereience na ko sa smart.. super lag and ang bagal ng service nila they always said ok naman connection or may technical problem na inaabot ng ilang araw na walang connection. it’s really bad tlga.. i read forum about smart wifi almost negative… gusto ko nanga pa disconnect pero under contract pa… sabi pa kung pa disconnect me need to pa remaining months. o my godness!! ang panget na nga ng connection at bulok na sistema nila bayaran ko pa… so what should i do?

  13. Meron na bang wifi ang globe? di ko lam yun ah… if youre asking for PLDT Wifi… don’t bother. It’s the same as SMART Wifi. Same connection, different billing. In short billing lang nagkaiba…

    parang talk and tex, pinalitan lang yung pangalan sa display ng cellphone mo, pero, smart pa rin yun.

  15. this is my second post, the first one was last december 31st and up to now i haven’t had any problem whatsoever with globe broadband. everytime i am online i make sure that i check my dsl speed and it’s speed hasn’t gone below 300kbps. just now, after checking it’s speed it registered at more than 400kbps (i’m under the 384kbps plan).

  21. as far as i know the 995 promo of globe is no longer available. the promo by the way is that you’ll be getting 384kbps/month for 995 plus you get 6months free from the usual additional charges that globe regularly includes on your billing. plus the promo has a locked-in period of just 1 year. what they have right now is still the same package, 995/month for 384kbps but the deduction from the additional charges is good for only 2 months plus the lock-in period is 2 years.

    and yes, you need an existing tel. line.

  23. our neighbor was still able to avail of the 995/month package but as i’ve said, the contract is good for 2 years.

    your line will be free even when connected to the dsl because they use a splitter for your tel line and for your broadband connection.

  25. Yuga, have you switched to Globelines Broadband from Greendot? I myself also use the Greendot service, but I can’t get out until 6 more months. (Not that I hate them, but because they’re expensive.)

  34. I think it’s better than Smart Bro – everything is better than Smart Bro at the moment. As for sharing, it’s officially not allowed, as per the terms of service (if I read it right). I might need to confirm it soon.

  35. dun sa nagtatanong kung pano gawin kung gus2 na padiskonek sa smart wi-fi>> tingin ko may basis for asking smart to terminate the contract between you and smart kc nag breach cla sa contract bec of the frequent disconection due to troubles caused by their system. 2nd, ung customer support servis nila ay not so competent! ang bagal !

  43. Tanong ko lang. Ano average upload speeds nang DSL diyan sa PI?

    Nasa San Francisco ako. Uuwi ako sa December. Maguuwi sana ako nang Slingbox unit na ibibigay ko sa kaibigan ko para ikabit sa DSL line niya (PLDT yata) at sa Cable TV niya. Sa ganoon puwede siyang manood nang mga US TV Channels (may Slingbox din ako dito) ako naman makakapanood nang Pinoy TV (di lang TFC).

    Kailangan nang Slingbox, minimum 384 Kbps UPLOAD speed? Kaya ba nang mga ISP diyan ito? Alam ko kaya nila iyan sa specs nila pero kaya ba nila na SUSTAINED at hindi lang BURST speeds. At reliable ba naman sila? Sa mga nababasa ko, and DSL ngayon diyan parang kuryente nung 80’s….basta na lang mawawala at babalik.

I have tried Globe Dial up and they are ok but I can never get faster than 1.1 kbps download and am never on a connection faster than 21.6kbps the broadband helpdesk is helpful if you are lucky enough to get a clever one all the better they are trying even though they have thier hands tied. The problem seems to be bad management and lack of knowledge and therefore investment as they seem unable to be able to afford enough equipment to keep thier promises

    I tried Blast Dial up and that is a joke as they are complete rip of merchants who have realised that they can print money in the form of 100 Peso cards and do not have to have even a local dial up number that is obtainable. they can lay back on thier loungers getting drunk in the knowledge that they will only be exhalted in this country for devising such a rip of and they will be looked up to in this country where the con man is King!

    download speed: 35.9kbps
    upload speed: 24.9kbps

    my speed looks like a dial-up connection..

    my pc is clean and stable.. it just happen to act weird last july 3, 2006. i can’t even upload my files in the internet.

    i had reported to customercare but as of now there is no response.

  63. Bakit hindi nyo ma maintain ang dial-up kasi nagbabayad rin naman kami. ayaw lang namin magpa connect sa broadband dahil hindi naman kami internet shop or heavy user. Kung tutuusin nilalamangan nyo kami palagi dahil binabayaran namin yong oras na hindi actually nagamit tulad na lang ng na ka connect na tapos mababa yong received & sent bytes so palaging error ang nag aapear. Anong matatawag nyo sa laging ganito. Kung kayoy may magaling na mga Engineers and technician makitkita nila ito sa inyong server di ba! Sana patas lang kasi hindi maiwasan na mumurahin kayo ng mga subscriber kasi ang pera na binabayad namin ay hindi pinupulot lang pinaghirapan rin tapos ganon ang servisyo nyo naka ad pa na globe is the best or no.1 sana walang lokohan.
    Kayong mga technician oet engineer i check nyo yong mga data everytime hindi yong maghintay na lang ng tawag sa mga nag reklamo
    Wag paantuk antuk ma karma kayo sa tinatanggap na sweldo.

  66. I use zpdee and I recently bought a linksys router to share the internet connection with my laptop… but the problem is, the router is not compatible with the motorola surfboard cable modem that zpdee cable has… i dont know which router is compatible to that though,,,,

  77. the 1st week of my Globelines Broadband was fine. but my headache started whenever i log in early morning (thinking that there are less users at this time). it disconnects very often. i couldn’t download without refreshing again because of the frequent DCs. even my YM chats are affected because i thought my messages were sent only to see my router blinking again. what’s the reason behind the DCs? there should also be a clause in the contract that we don’t have to pay the service if we don’t get a continuous connection. im just glad that the helpdesk is very accomodating when you voice out your problems. but i hope the connections be accomodating as well soon.

  78. Im a subscriber of globelines dialup unlimited but i want to upgrade to a broadband service, everytime i ask the business center of globelines they always tell me that the broadband service in my area is full… what am i supposed to do..?

  83. Just discontinued a globelines data line yesterday before it started…

    Their field technicians sucked and doesnt follow schedule instructions. they cannot configure/activate my dsl for 2 sessions. Customer service sucked too, they say “sir, activated na DSL nyo” the other one says in a different session ” sir, di pa activated DSL nyo..” same for their tech support that you have to wait for 30 mins or more for a call…

    Im glad I ceased the service before it begins… they sucked at startup what more when we are in their “holding period”

  86. gosh!!!! i was so shock three days na ako d maka upload ng maayos!! and then when you try to call their costumer service, sobraaaaaa makaktulog ka na lng sa kaaantay!!! grabeh naman i am paying 1995 php for the faast connection i needed, it says will have a great access download and upload, and yet i dont see any good things happened. their system went unstable for a month or so, giving the subscribers the reason of updating, etc etc etc for the betterment blah blah blah, and yet, no improvement all!!!
    i was thinking that if im going to pay for a higher “plan” i can have that fast connection, they keep on advertising, is it really the “BROADBAND” you want us to know? and the things that you keep on emphasizing on your ads? pag tumawag ka naman sa costumer hotline, tutulo na lng ung laway mo sa kaantay na may sumagot, sa tawag mo, imagine it took 32 minutes for me to get to their service “hotline” kuno, cguro kaya nga hotline, kasi umuusok na yung ilong ng mga subscribers sa galit at yung tenga niyo sa mga whines ng mga tao!!

I’m paying 3000 pesos up to 2MB daw. eh madalas pa na below 700 ang download speed ko, sumasawsaw pa hanggang 100. lugi talaga. dapat ako pa bayaran ng globe dahil sa sakit ng uli. tang ina nila. tuwing tatawag laging inaayos. 2 buwan na akong tawag ng tawag. letse!

Kaya tinerminate ko na rin ang globe land line ko pati lahat ng globe celfon lines naming buong pamilya pinaterminate ko na rin para makaganti kahit pano sa ginawa nilang dis-information.

    just an input for those who don’t know,

    KBps and Kbps are different animals. So when you speedtest, check if the “B” is a “b” or not.

    1KB is actually equal to 1024 bytes
    1Kb is read as 1000 bits

    8 bits is equal to 1 byte.

    Which means a 512Kbps (512,000 bits/s) connection will have an IDEAL maximum download speed of about 64KBps (64 kilobytes/s).

    A 56Kbps can have a maximum ideal speed of 7KBps. But since dial-up connections are on an analog line, we can expect a lot of signal interference which is why we can get about 4-6KBps max download speed or even lower.

  105. Yeah! Maraming nanakawan ng Digitel cables the past months. Maski nga line ko ninakaw nila at dalawang beses pa. They usually cut the wires around 12:00AM to 3:00AM. The second time na na-encounter ko, tatawag sana ako sa pulis kaso wala load cellphone. Ala rin akong landline. And I can’t get out kasi there the check kasi baka armed ang mga yun. Iba kasi pag may pamilya ka na. Medyo mahirap pumasok sa mga alanganin. I am not afraid to get out and check but I am afraid sa situation ng family ko. Kawawa naman sila kung mawawala ako. Alam nyo naman cgro yun.

    There’s not much problem sa line ko sa Digitel. My DL speed is 384kbps and I’m getting around 315kbps. My UL speed is 128kbps and I get around 92kbps. Not bad pero I’m not satisfied with the upload speed. How I wish na 2300+ na lng sana un 640/384 na plan ng DSL. Masyado kasi mahal sa ngayon. Balak ko sana mag upgrade. The current price is 3300+. Siguro sa 512/256 na muna ako ako and it’s wort 2300+. At least madodoble upload speed ko.

    And for those gamers, I know you hate lag. Hehehe. Ako din naglalag. But lag with my connection only happens during peak hours. The main reason for getting a lag is my PC. It chokes kasi di kaya ng PC ko yung game. Mababa lng kasi specs ng PC ko:

  106. Kung napansin n’yo yung mga previous post ko tungkol sa globe, wala kayong mababasa sa’kin kundi puro papuri sa Globe. Wala naman kasi akong naging hassle sa kanila in terms of broadband connection kahit na sa landline ko. Pero ngayon biglang nag-iba ang ihip na hangin. Ang laking perwisyong ibinibigay nila sa akin (at sa tingin ko sa nakararami rin). Nagumpisa ito nung bagyong “milenyo”. Wala kaming dial-tone and broadband connection simula September 28 hanggang November 01. Di bale sana kung buong lugar namin (subdivision) ang ganun katagal nawalan pero hindi, kami na siguro ang pinakahuling naayos ang linya at broadband connection. Ilan din ang nakausap ko mga technical support nila pero paulit-ulit ang script na sinasabi. Ang ipinagtataka ko pa, yung isa naming landline (2 ang landline na gamit namin) na kahit kelan eh hindi ko ni-report sa repair hotline nila (173) yun pa ang unang nagawa kesa dun sa isang landline namin na since October 09 ay araw-araw kung pina follow-up. Pero sa’kin okey pa yun kasi atleast mas excuse sila dahil sa bagyo.

    Eto na ngayon ang problema. Since December 08, Friday around 8PM hindi na naman maka-connect sa broadband nila (although ayos naman ang phone at may dial tone). Agad akong tumawag sa repair hotline nila (173) at ang sabi down daw ang server sa ilang part ng Cavite.

    Heto ang details ng report ko sa technical support nila kasi everytime nag-rreport ako talagang sinusulat ko.

    1st call, December 09, Saturday @ 10AM
    – Peter (nakalimutan ko ang last name). Ang sabi down nga daw ang server.

    2nd call, December 09, Saturday @ 8:05PM
    – Jen Concordia (Pina-reinstall ang speedtouch software at baka sakaling makuha daw sa reinstallment ng software. Wala rin nangyari. Unable to connect pa din).

    3rd call, December 09, Saturday @ 9:30PM
    – Ghielyn Sempino ( Down pa rin daw ang server).

    Marahil nagtataka na kayo kung bakit sa loob pa lang ng isang araw eh naka-3 tawag na agad ako sa tech. support nila. Ang trabaho ko kasi ay online telemarketer. Required sa trabaho ang broadband/DSL connection. Part din ng trabaho ko ay tumawag sa mga existing clients sa US thru VOIP. Ang time ng work ko ay 8PM – 5AM Manila time (graveyard shift). Kaya ganun na lang ang pagbabakasakali ko na kahit papano ay makapag-report ako sa work kahit undertime since nung Friday pa eh hindi na ko nakapag-report. Kaya tuloy ang pagtawag ko sa tech support nila.

Walang RELIABILITY sa Globe. Ang nakakainis pa sa kanila, tuwing tatawag ka sa repair hotline nila sa 173, minimum na siguro ang 20 minutes na maghihintay ka bago ka may makausap na tech. support. Tinanong ko nga sila bakit ganun sila katagal sumagot. Ilan ba silang nasa tech. support na naghhandle ng mga calls. Ang sagot nung kausap kong si Eugene Reyes? Estimate daw nya ay mga 20! Para daw sa buong Luzon na iyon! Anak ng… 20 lang kayo? Ano yan, cost-cutting ng Globe? Kaya naman pala ganun na lang katagal kung paghintayin nila ang mga customer nila sa phone eh around 20 lang ang tech. support nila. Tsk tsk tsk… ano ba namang customer service yan? Nakakainis pa pag maririnig mo yung linya nilang “Don’t worry sir, we’re doing our best!” Hehehehe. Yun na ba ang best na Globe? Ang paghintayin ang customer nila ng more than 20mins sa phone? Na kung hindi ka mag-rreport sa kanila na may problema ka eh walang automatic adjustments sa billing ng mga customers? Tsk tsk tsk…. Basta Globe POSIBLE, hehehe!

    ok, bahala na sa professor ko on monday…pano wala parin. tumawag narin ako, after 30 gloden minutes e sa wakas, may sumagot narin…i asked, “bakit walang net connection?” hay…sabi ng technical representative (di ko na matandaan ang name niya, pero lalake) hindi po kasi namin magawa kasi umuulan, e sensitive po ang mga cables. pero kapag po naing maganda na ang weather, gagawin po ulit agad yon. actually, 60% na po ng cavite ay ok na ang connections. (ganun pala, so 40% nalang) so don’t worry ma’am, we’ll do our best. kailangan lang po kasi na gawin ito dahil marami narin previous na reklamo, kaya bukod po sa restoration inaupgrade po namin ang service namin, for you.” ok, sabi mo eh.

    dalawang reports ngaun at wala akong napasa dahil sa “down daw ang server”. malamang bagsak ako sa subject ko. i really can’t blame globe about this (yeah right!?)

    the following days….ok na ang weather, sobrang init na nga e, pero wala parin. i tried calling (nanaman) pero sobrang tagal na naka hold ako, kaya naiinis lang ako at binababa ko nalang (ilang beses din yon…)

    so…december 23 na, wala parin. 60%? (talaga) nasaan na yung connection namin? (malas naman namin at napasama kami dun sa 40%) and everytime na tatawag ako, the operator puts me on hold for more than 30 mins, for heaven’s sake, bakit ganun katagal? and even my mom, to think na nasa ibang bansa yon! they’ve put her on hold (just like me)…hello, knock knock, hindi niyo ba nadedetect na international call yon?! (ok, baka di naman talaga, huh? ano yon?) what kind of service is this…honestly, i do love globe with their service. kapag nga dumarating na ang bill ko, the day after nun e nagbabayad na ako…pero kung ganyan…

  111. i can open the ym, the google, the yahoo, do some irc at a moderate speed (but still i lag behind most of the time).. and when i open the globequest.com.ph site to check my bandwidth, wow!! its like the speed of light!

    but heck, it all ends there.

    cant open pages like friendster, yeah, youtube.. and when loading some pages (e.g. those containing pics) it takes almost forever….

    so for how long does globe intend to finish this crap huh… regardless of having that earthquake, globe has been like this from time to time, having a not-so-good connection.

  122. To all Globelines Broadband subscribers who are experiencing problems with constant disconnection, speed problems, etc:

    I have a suggestion. Since we are under a one year lock-up period and we are being made to pay for service that we are not getting, why don’t we write a formal letter to Globelines? We’ll refuse to pay until they fix the problems. Or they should not hold us accountable for 2 months worth fee since they are the ones not keeping the end of the bargain. I have been experiencing constant disconnection with my Globelines Explore Silver since August 2006 and have exhausted all means with them (called their hotline; went to their customer Services Offices; wrote them letters; emailed; sent compalints thru their websites) but until now they still haven’t done anything. They don’t communicate with their subscribers unless of course it is to ask for payment or to offer more services. If we voice our complaints as a group, perhaps they will take us more seriously. If not, we can always bring the issue to the National Telecommunications Commission. Only reason companies get away with bad service is because we customers don’t complain and demand what we are suppose to be getting for our money. Would like to hear what you think guys.

    Cleo is right. You should assert yourselves. I was the one who complained earlier re Globelines connection scheduling. I have signed a contract with them but I asserted that I want it out because I do not like their service at start. I switched to Mydestiny cable and this seems ok. Advise to all is ISP performance is location dependent. Like for MyDestiny it is great at my location but on others it is not. So the point is assert yourselves the rights that you possess. “wag kayo magbayad” kung ayaw ninyo ng serbisyo” there are a lot of options out there.

    the problem was due to the taiwan earthquake. it is an external problem, globe does not have a direct access to the technicalities of the said problem kasi the underwater cable was damaged and the people who are responsible for that is globe’s cable provider. siguro naman globe is putting on a lot of pressure din to that cable provider kasi globe is incurring a lot of expense on something that was caused by a natural disaster.. tapus they will be giving out bill adjustments and rebates pa, edi loss nla un din, same with PLDT din… db, wawa naman mga telecommunications company natin…

  126. Last year September Globe had a 999 promo for its 384Kbps service. It came with a landline. But since I had an Innove phone already the promo would instead waive one year’s worth of Innove basic phone bill.

    The service here in Mandaluyong Addition Hills/Shaw has improved already from the Taiwan quake – but the service’s stability still doesn’t compare to PT&T’s Greendot (which unfortunately costs twice as much for only 256Kbps)

    It appears to me that you a somewhat limited understanding of what is going on.

    People have been having problems since waaaaay before the Taiwan earthquake with connections to the Globe gateway computers, NOT websites outside of the globelines network.
    What you are suggesting is like saying I can’t travel from Baguio to Manila because there is a traffic jam in downtown Cebu City.

    And another thing, Globelines chooces with wich cable company they rent their bandwidth, they did nothing after the earthquake, while other ISPs tried to rent additional bandwidth elsewhere and throddled certain protocols, like bittorrent, to minimize the troubles for their costumers.

    Tech guys from Globe themsleves admitted that they have had hardly any training and are in fact unqualified to do a decent job, they know what cables to connect and what buttons to push and that’s it, they have no idea what they are actually doing or what most settings do and/or mean. On more than one occassion did I, as a customer, have to explain to the techs what certain settings did and meant. I’m sorry but if a tech doesn’t even know what something very basic like MTU stands for or what it does I am left speechless.

    On top of this the server and router hardware Globe uses is desperately outdated and the system cannot cope with the demand.

    In short this company is a mess, it’s amateuristic at best and it should be held responsible for its poor performance. Globe needs to wake up and start investing in training and hardware. I for one am all for sending an official wel documenee dcomplaint to the NTC. Stopping payment of the bills will not solve anything, after a ruling from the NTC you can request a refund. Accusing someone or in this case a company, from not playing by the rules and then breaking them yourself by not paying the bills isn’t exactly a wise thing to do. Better ask Globe for a refund and keep asking untill the NTC has spoken on the matter.

  130. Guyz magtatanong lang! Bale nakatanggap kasi ako ng sulat from globe at ang subject ay “Final Notice”. Eto yung ilang part sa sulat:

    “… unless your payment for the said amount (P4,702.01) is received by February 18, 2007, your account will be endorsed to our lawyers for further legal action. As a consequence, please be informed that you may be charged with interest and collection fees.”

    Supposed to be kasi last December dapat tapos na yung 1 year contract ko sa globe broadband. Nung araw na nagpunta ako sa head office nila sa cavite ang sabi eh 2 years daw ang contract ko. Maliwanag na nung in-offer pa lang sakin ang broadband package nila thru phone ay 1 year lang contract. Tapos may kopya pa ko ng pinirmahan kong konrata na nakalagy eh 1 year nga. Pinakita ko sa kanila ang contract at sinabing hindi raw allowed ang mga installer nila na mag-provide ng contract sa mga customer. Kaya tinanong ko sila kung bakit ako binigyan ng kopya, hindi naman nila masagot. Nung time na yun walang connection ang broadband sa amin for almost 2 months. Kaya sinabi ko there’s no way na tatapusin ko ang 2 years contract dahil in the first place 1 year ang usapan namin. Yung 1 year na yun ay under 995/month plan. Ngayon nung tapos na ang contract ko gusto nila palabasin na ang susunod kong bayad (13th month) ay magiging 1,495 na. Langya, sino ba ang papayag sa ganun. Kaya hinintay kong kusa nilang putulin ang account ko since hindi sila pumapayag na i-terminate ang account ko dahil may contract pa daw ako.

    Ang tanong ko lang, mayroon na bang iba sa inyo na nakatanggap ng katulad nitong demand letter? Saka anong ginawa n’yo? Nagbayad ba kayo?

We just thought that there were a lot of internet traffic going on because it was christmas season. Anyways, i think smart and globe are just trying to outdo each other using the lowest rates AND SLOWER CONNECTION!!! PABAGALAN ATA SILA NG SERVICES…i tried PLDT’s dsl.. ok naman… at nakakaloko ang billing nila.. ang landline ko dapat is 750. psos lng plus 999 so dapt 1749 lng… kaso lumalabas 1900 ang binabayaran ko.. according sa CS nila may advance payment at kung anu-anong taxes na di ko maintindihan!!!

Sabi ng boss ko na walang sariling Internet Protocol Backbone ang globe as well as the other ISP..ung pldt lng un may sariling IP backbone so it means the lahat ng ISP services ay dumadaan sa iisang system.they shared the same system.wait nio nlng maimplement ang NGN (Next Generation Network) ng pldt..mas stable kasi pag wired ang connection mo kesa wireless..sabi nila it wud be 1 meg bundled with the landline..they still working on the price but what i heard its 1200-1500/ month..to all planning to subscribe for dsl, wag kau padadala sa mga false add nila..katulad ng SmartBro..they say that its 700kbps but the truth is its UP to 700kbps when the connection is strong..be also considerate sa location nio, kung malau kau sa Central office dont expect na mabilis ung connection nio..for me, im still looking for the most reliant ISP service..kahit hndi ganun kabilis basta wag lng sasakit ang ulo..hehe..un lng..

    Kumuha ako application form kanina sa globelines sa sm north cyberzone, ang mahal pala ng installation fee pag ung bundle ang pinakabit mo yung may fone+internet for 995 a month, kelangan mong bayaran ung Phone (landline) na ibibigay nila for four months 500/ month pero ang nakalagay dun isang bayaran n lng ata so 2,000 pesos bbyran mo tpos 500 dun sa initial payment para ma install so 2,500 ang lumalabas na babayran ko pero sabi nila may VAT p daw 100 php ata , ok na rin kahit ganun papakabit na ko,

  148. I am using a 2mbps globeline broadband and I’ve confirmed that the broadband speed is 2mbps from there site speed tester yet during downloads of files, I can only reach a download speed of 40kbps!! It shoul download at around 200+kbps!
    Until now they still haven’t found a solution for that.

    Every thing on the net when using my 2mbps globelines connection is lag or too slow!

    And I also have a PLDT DSL only at 768kbps, can download up to 70-80kbps from anywhere on the net! And it does not lag playing any other games on the NET!!!
    2mb vs 768 = 1995 for both plans – I wanted the 2mbps because I thought it ought to be faster! I was wrong! It’s super SLOW!!!!

    I feel cheated by globelines for some reason. Line is very very unstable!

Up until now, 3 months na wala pa rin kami internet.. and they keep sending bills… Bullshit. Ganun din ginawa nila sa friend ko. Shit kayo. Putang ina nyo GLOBELINES. siguro kelangan nyo ng maraming pera ksi laki ng pa premyo nyo sa Eat bulaga, taktak o tatakbo… itinatakbo no ang pera ng subscriber nyo. Wag na kayo mag aksaya ng panahon dyan sa globelines na yan.

  151. They just accept subscriber even though they cannot give quality service. When you called their Tech Support hotline, the “answering machine” says “any request for onsite tech support shall be attended within 24 hours.” My goodness, instead their personnel will only give you promises that “we on the process of activating your account”. they’ll do nothing to solve your problem. they will even tell you that they cannot do anything about it.

    Instead, they will refer you to the agent who recruited you and advice you to make a follow up on that matter from that agen.

One Thing I Learned from my past experience with services… If they have a promo, especially a promo that may be the cheapest in the market, expect it to be congested or faulty… Like Globe Handy Phone, I was one of the first subscribers then, but when the Prepaid came it congested and congested the service. The service normalized at least 4 months after its introduction. Same with ISP, if its cheap… its is cheap… In prepaid dial-up, if you buy the cheapy prepaid cards, you cannot use it on peak hours.. Let me reiterate about ISP performance… ask your neighbor regarding the service because it is location dependent. PLDTDSL is great in some areas and some are not. It follows for every services out there. MyDestiny is super in my area and Im glad I stayed away from Globelines Broadband of Marikina. What happend to me is similar Donato… But I asserted my rights and terminated the line. Again, there are a lot of options out there…

With regards naman sa PLDT DSL, medyo may mga instances na di rin ako satisfied sa service nila..pati na ung customer service nila….kaya nga naisip ko rin na try ang Globe.
    Ano kaya sa palagay nyo mga katropa?..sino ang pipiliin ko?

From the time I paid the initial payment on June 16, 2007, my telephone conked out every other day and I got my modem changed three times already! To say that i am very much disappointed is an understatement.

    Why can’t globelines get the clue from the minions of complaining customers that they have a lemon for a modem. The crux of the problem is your modem, change its model, stupid!!! Until then, I will never recommend Globebroadband to any of my friends for fear of losing them.

  214. Requirements for a 995php Globe Broadband?? 2500php one time registration fee, identification or credentials and lots of patience!! hehe. Just acquired 995php for my small business desk at Marikina city. I can really differentiate the residential and business service quality of service. At home i applied for a residential data only service and they were like turtles on my application and activation hence I terminated it. (B.S. on the holding period as long as you assert it) now with the allure of the 995php business line (995php broadband and zero pesos on the landline) this is a no brainer! I’m paying 1500php just for a business line and wow! upgrading to a 995php MSF that comes with a broadband is sweet. My frame of mind is “I don’t really care if my DSL functions or not as long as I can get the cheaper MSF and a working business landline!!” Well, my MSF package is now lower and now we will wait if this Globelines DSL at Marikina City deserves praise… so far so good! By the way Destiny Cable at Marikina has a good service!

Hey! nkakatawa naman mga kwento nyo, comments and experiences, kala ko ako lng ang nanggagalaiti sa galit hehe, well here’s my story, Smartbro subs ako since Oct 31, 2006 hindi ko pansin na mbgal n pala ung connection ko kc first time ko lng magpakabit ng broadband kala ko ok n ung ganung speed, na notice ko lng sya nung Dec to January biglang bumilis ang ang connection ko na dapat ay ganon pala ang speed na nkukuha ko. after that bumalik nnman sa dati, then tinawag ko sa customer service nila na, to make the story short 4 times ako n field visit 3 times palit ng canopy at 1 beses change ng base station. after that mas lalo bumagal ang connection ko, tinawag ko sa knila and mukang banned na ang number ko sa knila kc everytime na ung given ko na contact number ay hindi nla sinasagot kya kailangan ko pang mang hiram ng ibang sim o ibang number, but ung cel number ko ay active p rin nagriring naman at inaabot sya ng 10-15 minutes walang nasagot. pag naman may sumagot sinsabi lng nila na may prblem daw sa base staton kung san ako konnected. Eh araw araw ako buong linggo tumatawag puro ganon! sa bwisit ko cnagot ko ung nsa line sbi ko miss alam mo 1 week n ako tumatawag dyan puro ganyan ang sinasbi nyo, sbi ko kelan maayos yung gngwa? ska ung mga field agent nila ha mukang mga tga squatter lang ni walang laptop na dala para i configure ung settings ng connection ko from the base station or alignment. dating ng dating ung billing dito s amin at tinawagan p ako ha para ipaalala daw ung billing nmin sbi ko wala kming bbyaran khit singko hanggat hindi nyo naayos ung connection ko, mukang wala na silang gngwa and hinihintay ko nalng mag expire ung contract ko s knla. until now hindi na cla tumawag skin khit may previous complain p ako sa knila. mabilis p mag browse ung celphone ko eh! 65 kbps – 168 kbps ang bilis diba! kaya smart dapat s inyo hindi tinatangkilik.

  222. nasa 3rd contract na ako w Smart wireless broadband. started July 2005, Smart Wifi pa nun at 988/mon. dami problema nun first year ko pero nakaraos naman. 3 weeks before mag-end ang contract, nawala internet almost 2 weeks nang wala kaya in desperation, i made my complaint dun mismo sa Smart Wireless Center s SM Fairview kc nga may alternative na nun sa amin yung speak and surf ng Globe. naayos naman ang Smart, pinalitan nila yung antennae ko from Sennfarr to Canopy tapos pinadagdagan ko pa ng isang tubo kc tumataas na yung punong mangga ng kapitbahay eh. from that time on ala nang major issues. mawala man internet mga 30 minutes lang matagal na sang oras. cept tong friday lang wala internet from 8:30 pm to today sun pero balik sya ng mga 11 am. dahil cguro sa bagyo. so ako nasa san jose del monte, bulacan dl ko ranges from 200-350 kbps may burst speed pa from 1-8 mbps. di na masama for 988/mon atsa location ko pa.   228. depends lang siguro sa location. i have globelines in marikina and i’ve never experienced not being online for more than 4 hours. kahit 5 days ko iwan online yung MMORPG na nilalaro ko d pa rin nadidisconnect. and its fast too. whenever i have trouble, within the day or the next day at most, may tech na dadating sa bahay. i also like it that they provide usb modems kase kahit may power outtage i can still go online using my laptop. unlike pldt and bayantel, may sariling power source yung modems nila so pag walang kuryente, d rin mkapag online. tip, pag medyo mabagal ang connection nyo just call their hotline and ask for your connection to be reset.

    im using bayantel in iligan. lagi timeout and their customer service sucks. late ang bill tapos wala pang communication between collectors and head office. minsan kahit nagbayad ka mapuputulan ka bigla.

    I am experiencing problems with globelines broadband… I subscribed to their 512kbps wireless broadband package with wireless phone (PHP1295/mo.)… they gave me 7 days trial period and within that trial period I was amazed with the speed… pumapalo from 700+ kbps to 1+ mb… kaya pina-activate ko kaagad. Pero eto na ang kalbaryo… right after the 7-day trial period nagsimula nang maging intermitent ang connection speed nila either super bagal (I even got 5bps or lower!!!) o totally walang connection. Lagi ako nagrereklamo sa CS nila pero wala naman sila ginawa kundi palitan yung modem na wala naman nagbago ganon pa din naman problema. My work is related to IT and I know that there is no problem at my side (hardware, softwares, cabling, etc…). Kakainis na talaga ang service ng globelines… feeling ko naloko lang ako kase nakatali ako ngayon sa kanila for 1yr dahil sa 1yr bond na kasama sa package.

  246. I used to be a smart bro subsciber before nung nasa maynila pa ako, maganda lang sa umpisa, nang mga sumunod na buwan wala na. Lage nalang nadi-disconnect at masyadong mabagal ang speed. So nung umuwi ako dito sa province ko sa leyte and decided to settle here, i tried Bayantel DSL. It sucks too but better than smart. When i moved into a new apartment, i have to transfer the connection to another municipality and it was really embarassing that they cant transfer my connection there because of blah blah blah blah. they said its because the agreement between this the municipality i was in and the municipality i’m moving to dont allow it. But they have bayantel in maasin city southern leyte too, so its really disgusting. They advice me to terminate my account there in the old place and go to the bayantel center in maasin and apply again for a new connection. What sucks more is I have to pay one hell of money for terminating the contract and i need to wait 1 week before they can connect again an internet connection to my new place. So i got fed up! and said it’s enough. They just want to squeeze money out from customers so they are doing it.

    My landlady told me of GLOBE(995 promo).
    So, i try to find out everything that i need to know, i tried to get feedbacks from my neighbors who are using globe too, they said its okay. I dont know how much globe pays them to say so. Now, i just realize, since January 5, 2008 until now, when did i ever have a good connection? When i call customer service all i can get is that there is a technical problem and the restoration is on-going and it’s going to be finish soon and BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! It keeps getting DC and DC and DC. There were even days that no connection at all for almost a week.

My mom subscribed for that lame, expensive ISP(Greendot). It was the hellish days of my life. My mom wouldn’t authorize me to switch into a different ISP. It was sad. Eight years have passed(OMFG YEAH), my mom realised that she’s paying for an overpriced ISP. I tried to tell her that every single day but she never listened. I planned to subscribe SkyBroadband but our area, some street here in Pasay, isn’t covered. I’m supposed to grab the Plan 6mbps(3,999 Pesos) since I can afford it now because of my current stable job as an IT Consultant, or the plan 12mbps (5,999 Pesos) 50% shared with my mom’s salary. Although, I’m currently subscribing Globe Broadband plan 2mbps(overflowing up to 2.6mbps) w/ landline. I always get disconnected everytime I’m idling. As long as my torrent’s active, my connection grips tight. xD

    You can find the test at http://www.ispgeeks.com just click on the diagnostics tools tab and you will see this test called TCP Speed Test and several others including one thats good for voip or ventrillo. After you run your TCP test check the Route Performance and see where the bottleneck is. I think you can even have the results emailed to your ISP.

    i wndr if it is usual practice with your customer service to be called off, after accepting/recieving complete application documents/requirment for a certain package (landline/broadbnd connection) and it was establish that the said package is available upon receipt of the application documents, your customer service attendant told me that after a few days it will be installed but i sugeested that maybe we could set a certain date to give the installer more than enough time for my schedule will be served, i gave them more than the 3-day schedule, so thats it, we both agreed the schedule. For your guidance and information i pulled out my pending application with the bayantel thinking that we were already set for installation, but unfortunately a couple of days i was adv. that the package that i need (landline/internet connection)can be installed less the landline. i ask her why that package is no longer available in fact the date for installation has been set/approved already. what in heaven’s name you guys did this to me. my place has been set for opening. by the way i am an airline ticket agent and that package is my basic requirment for me to operate the business… NABIBITIN AKO GUYS!!! kindly do something with it nakaka inis talaga..   300. I am using one the bundles of Globe,yung 2Mbps nila kaso parang ako lang dinadaya nila kasi ang hina ng connection nadidisconnect pa,tapos ang bilis pa mgbigay ng bill wla namang good service…kung may ibang ISP dito sa amin sana sa iba nalang ako

    bagal na lagi pa cra phone ko. bundle of 995 ako then upgrade ng 1295. wala pa rin. tapos ang galing maningil kahit sira phone mo. almost 2 most sira phone ang hudas na adjustment 400+ lang.siete ‘yan.
