6 public places in PH with free Wi-Fi starting next week

We’ve recently reported about DOST’s plan to populate the entire country with wireless hotspots by the end of the year, and they’re kickstarting the project this month. Initially starting with four wireless hotspots, GMA News reports six specific locations around Metro that will have Wi-Fi starting next week. Find out where after the break.

These are the places with free public Wi-Fi starting July 24, 2015:

  1. Quezon Memorial Circle
  2. Quezon City Hall
  3. SSS East Avenue
  4. LTO East Avenue
  5. PCA Bldg., PHILCOA
  6. Rizal Park, Manila

Do take note that per area, the hotspot could only accommodate up to 300 users with 50MB of allocated data per day.

Eventually, we will be having free public Wi-FI in the following areas:

Public Plazas and Parks
Public Primary and Secondary Central Schools
Public Libraries
Rural Health Units & Government Hospitals
State Universities & Colleges
Train Stations of the MRT and LRT systems
Airports and Seaports
City and Municipal Halls
National Government Offices

The Philippine government reportedly allotted Php1.4USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.17 billion for this project alone since research from World Bank shows that a country’s progression is faster when it goes along with the technological advancements. The study shows that an increase of 10% in national connectivity yields an extra 1.38% in GDP (gross domestic product).

Stay tuned as we wait for more announcements as to where we could have access to free Internet nationwide.

  1. Snatchers get ready.

  2. nasaan yung SSS “Easy Avenue”?

  3. Once China runs the country then it will be free unlimited wifi everywhere.

  4. id rather spend a few amount on mobile data to browse or play on my smartphone than to get irirtated on the slow connection ill get with it and also to prevent on jeopardizing my safety against crooks/muggerd/holdapers

sadly, it would have been much better if theyve alloted its budget to more useful needs like health, education, transpo etc….just my opinion though, peace!

  5. Free wifi nga, slow / intermittent connection naman. Sana, before sila nag implement ng ganitong project, improve muna nila yung internet speed ng Pilipinas. I’m pretty sure the government can do something about that if they’re willing to.

  6. No to free wifi, it will only increase crimes.

Its just an excuse, siyempre mabagal kase pang tapal nga lang eh. Tapos yung mga nakikinabang, naka handusay sa maldives. Sarap ng buhay…

  9. Sa EDSA dapat ang free WiFi para wala nang magreklamo sa traffic.

  10. Anong gagawin mo sa 50mb per day

  11. bakit sa GMA at Luzon ka agad meron mindanao PALAGING HULI.

  12. Salamat DOST at naalala mo kaming mga taga-south.

  13. the free wi-fi connection is not intended for heavy users, thus the allocation of just 50 MB per user for email checking, incident reports, minor posts and emergency. Wag mashadong umasa yung mga hayok sa downloads sa free internet na to dahil hindi ito intended para sa inyo.

  14. Pang low quality gay porn. Yeba!

  15. “Do take note that per area, the hotspot could only accommodate up to 300 users with 50MB of allocated data per day.”

    – eto yung winning statement!

  16. Ok snatcher and Holdaper be ready sa mga nasabing lugar sigurado tiba tiba kayo hahahahaha….
