Used iPhone 5 + Flappy Bird = $90,000++

Just when we thought that the Flappy Bird’s removal from the App Store and Play Store is the last we’ll ever hear from the now defunct app, it made the headlines again. This time in a form of used iPhone 5, with the game app still installed on it, which is being sold on eBay for a little under hundred grand!

The eBay user placed the handset for auction on the site with a starting price of USD990. Sixty-five bids (last we checked) later the price skyrocketed from less than a grand to a whopping USD90,200 or almost four million in our local currency! Not bad for a preowned 16GB iPhone 5, eh?

There are two things that probably crossed your mind when you read about this; (1) Why would anybody, in their right state of mind, buy a used iPhone 5 for a hundred grand just for the sake of Flappy Bird, or (2) Holy Cow, I’m sitting on a frigging gold mine!

For the first question, your guess is as good as ours. As for number two though, well sad to say but YOU’RE NOT. See what happened was eBay has taken the advertisment down (and other similar posts) because it violates the company’s terms of service, here’s why:

Smartphones and tablets must be restored to factory settings before they are allowed to be sold on eBay. Please remove all content from your device, including the game Flappy Bird, before you attempt to list your item again. Please be sure your current and future listings follow these guidelines, keeping in mind that additional violations of this policy could result in the suspension of your account.

We understand that you may have been unaware of this eBay policy, and we encourage you to learn how to keep your experiences on eBay successful.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Thanks,

eBay

Well folks, there goes our shot at being an overnight millionaire, at least through eBay that is. Of course, there are other channels where you can sell your preowned iPhone with Flappy Bird and if you’re lucky enough, maybe you’ll stumble upon a rich bastard that’s willing (*cough* Stupid Enough *cough*) to give you Php4M for it.

  1. nah the bidder won’t pay for it just what happened to drake’s ovo-jordan shoes

  2. Ten grand is $10,000. 100 grand is $100,000.

  3. This is too much for me to take, they are willing to bid just for the game?

  4. What!? o.o

Who would be dumb and pretentious enough to buy this?

  5. This auction simply shows how dumb Apple fanboys and fangirls can be. Pwned!

  6. I’d rather buy a new iPhone, jailbreak it and install flappy bird from other sources.

  7. bili nalang ako ng lumang iphone then jailbreak then install flappy bird.

    or…………

buy a cheap android phone download an apk of the game then install

  8. Only rich and dumb people will pay for this thing.

  9. eto forte ng Yugatech, anything nega about apple hahahaha!
