Listen to article

Land Transportation Office (LTO) may now apply for driver’s license and student driver’s permit online through a website.

Dubbed as the Land Transportation Management System, the online portal allows applicants to set an appointment, submit their requirements, and pay fees online. The initiative is part of the agency’s efforts in implementing social distancing as the country continues to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This also shortens the processing time of other LTO-related transactions.

Based on the report, 20 more additional LTO sites located in the key towns and cities will use the online portal next week to serve more customers. Cruz (Pila), Laguna, Candon, Vigan, and Batac.

LTO still accepts walk-in customers provided that they follow the safety measures prescribed by the government. The office has assigned staff to assist those who are having difficulties using the online portal.

Pilot testing for online vehicle registration under the website is also on-going. It will be open to the public by September 2020.
