Philips GoGear Connect: 1st Android MP4

Listen to article

Wondered why it took this long but looks like Philips beat everybody else to it — claiming the first Android-based MP4 player (Philips GoGear Connect) which they will officially unveil at the IFA in Berlin, Germany.

I’m thinking this could be the one that could probably match the prowess of the iPod Touch.

3.2-inch touchscreen (113×12.6×59 mm)
WiFi 802.11 b/g
built-in camera
microSD card slot

The unit weighs about 128 grams but the rest of the details are still unknown. Philips GoGear Connect will be available in Western Europe, USA & China from the end of October 2010 with recommended retail price is EUR249 (about Php14,300) for the 16GB version.

On a side note, I’m actually all set to go to Berlin for IFA this week-end but unfortunately my Schengen Visa could not make it. I’m going to miss a lot of announcements there.

14k for 16 GB of storage?

I hope that’s a misprint, or they should be prepared for a massive price cut when the updated 2010 iPod touch arrives

i think it should be called PMP because it plays more than an mp4 and philips doesn’t call it that. it supports .mp3, .wma, .m4a (AAC), .ogg, and .flac audio; .wmv, .mp4 (MPEG4 and H264 up to 720p), .avi (MPEG4 up to 720p) video; and JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF images
