Sony PSP Vita goes on pre-order at Amazon

Those excited about the release of the PSP Vita should check out the pre-order page over at Amazon.com. The next-gen portable gaming device gets a $249.99 price tag.

Amazon places the release date at December 31, 2011 — more than 3 months away but is expecting huge volume of sales so they’re taking orders as early as now.

Announced back in June 2011, the PSP Vita sports some pretty impressive hardware.

Sony PSP Vita
5-inch OLED display
ARM Cortex A9 (quad-core)
Quad-Core PowerVR SGX543MP+ GPU
Front & Rear Camera
Built-in GPS
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR
3G/HSDPA

The 3G+WiFi variant is priced at $299.99.

You can make your pre-orders here.

  1. Sir Abe panu yung unit nila na walang 3G+wifi?

    Wala talagang wifi yun?

    Or may wifi na kasama?

    Thanks,

    ^_^

    • The $250 sku only has wifi while the $300 sku has both wifi and 3G

  2. i just wish the 3g version could be used for local networks…

  3. Paano malaman kung pano gamitin yung 3G/HSDPA? Does it a data plan or sim-card or something? Sorry for the dumb question curious lang

  5. Wow! it’s gonna be the cool to have one. I like the built in processor they used. The ARM Cortexâ„¢-A9 quad, proven super bilis and has been used some android smartphones.

  6. matagal ng up ung pre-order page nyan sa amazon, last E3 pa lol

  7. will wait for “p4 the golden” to come out before buying this

  11. Nice pricing by the way. Kasing mahal lang niya yung iPod Touch when it was new.

  12. I see that the psp vita has many technical specification upgrades. But what are the real differences and pros compared to the regular psp?

    • Well, to put it simply, due to those upgrades games will look and play much better. The new parts/features i.e. the touch screen, the touch sensitive back panel, front and rear facing camera, gps, gyroscope, and most importantly the second thumbstick will offer new control inputs and possibilities for the games to use.

  13. hintayin munang ma-pirata (downloadable) mga games nyan hahah!

  14. kelan magiging available tong psp vita sa sony phil.? at kung yung $300 convert to peso is 13k & 134 pesos.pagdating ba ng pinas may ipapatong pa ba jan?…need ng reply pls

  15. oh shucks! im supposed to buy a nintendo 3DS this coming xmas! since the PS VITA is going to come out on deember i think? im really going to buy this baby!

    • It’s coming out on December in Japan only I think. You may be able to get an import model though but as we all know, that would be expensive.

  16. what? oh i see. when is the exact and very sure date this ps vita will be available here in philippines? and by the way , which do you think is good? nintendo 3ds or nintendo wii U? pls let me know

    • There hasn’t been any announcements yet for the Philippines, as is the usual; we’re not a significant market to be honest. But for the US it’s on February so maybe expect it later than that. Keep in mind that that would just be the official release.
And regarding your second question, you can’t really compare the two because they have different targets/intentions. The Wii-U is a home console with the powerful hardware so expect the serious games/blockbusters to come out on it; it’s more on gaming on the big screen. The Nintendo 3DS, on the other hand, is a portable so the games tend to be relatively more casual and are designed to keep you engaged for when you travel or if you have time to kill while you’re out but the blockbusters would still be there.
Take note, Nintendo really isn’t the best platform for really serious games though e.g. first-person shooters, intense rpg’s. So it still depends on what games you’re into and how and when you’re going to play.

  17. oh man!!! is that really it’s price?! i really need to know coz i’m planning to buy one… btw when i bought my psp 3000 it set me back about P1400 with all the accessories and all…

  18. San Pwede makabili nitoo??
    Excited na akong bumili…

  19. nagkaroon naako ng ps vita.. very nice ang mga games parang naglalaro kanang ps3 game graphics pocket 4 core handheld gameconsole.. kasalukuyan ko linalaro ang ninja gaiden sigma plus and uncharted golden abyss.. cool thumbs up..
