If you’ve noticed, your out-of-the-box WordPress blog would have its page titles in the ff. order: { blog name } >> { entry title }.
Now, whenever your blog is crawled by the search engines and sometimes lands on the first page for your targetted keyword, the results would show someting like:
… some other results …
My not so understandable and weird blog name >> This is my entry that landed on top of Google for my favorite keyword.
… some other results …
The relevant texts are at the end of the line and could sometimes be pruned or chopped off from the results. Would it be nice if you got the blog entry first followed by your blog title? ( { entry title } >> { blog name } )
So that becomes:
… some other results …
This is my entry that landed on top of Google for my favorite keyword >> My not so understandable and weird blog name
… some other results …
To some who knows their HTML and a little bit of PHP, you can tweak your code and just reverse the arrangements of the tags. (That’s what I’ve been doing for some time now.)
For those who want a nicer way of doing things, go check out the Optimal Title WP plugin here. That could actually also solve those anonymous recent trackbacks on my sidebar.
Thanks for the link. Very useful for those who’d rather not tinker with their WP source.
