TikTok is adding a new toggle allowing users to set a limit on how much AI-generated content may appear on their feed or For You page.

The said toggle will be found within the app settings (Profile > Settings and privacy >Content preferences > Manage topics). There are already existing toggles for a variety of topics and adjusting the slider for AI-generated content may also apply to all topics.
However, there’s no option to turn it off entirely as adjusting the slider to the left most part only says “see less” of a certain content. Otherwise, users may adjust to “see more” giving them more flexibility to personalize their feed.
“Like those controls, the AIGC setting is intended to help people tailor the diverse range of content in their feed, rather than removing or replacing content in feeds entirely,” said TikTok in a press release.
TikTok is rolling out the feature “in the coming weeks.”
In addition, the company is also testing “invisible watermarking” to improve labeling of AI-generated content on the platform. This adds a hidden marker to AI-generated videos that can’t be removed if the content is reuploaded or edited elsewhere.
The company already requires creators to label realistic AI-generated videos and uses a metadata system called C2PA Content Credentials to identify such content.
These efforts have labeled over 1.3 billion videos so far.
Invisible watermarks will soon be added to AI videos created with TikTok tools like AI Editor Pro and those uploaded with C2PA credentials.
