Smart Car: Swatch Mercedes ART

smart carDid not know Swiss watch manufacturer Swatch was also making cars for some time now. This tiny, compact car I saw the other day is the most parking-friendly car I’ve ever seen.

It’s now being carried as a Daimler AG brand with models running on hybrid or pure electric power.

The car is small enough to fit 2 on a single parking space. I wonder we don’t have this model back in the Philippines. They’re cheap and they take up very little parking space — should be a good car to drive around traffic-heavy Metro Manila.

I have been seeing older models of mercerdes smart car way back i think year ’00 or ’02. I just don’t know if it is being sold locally or has been imported. But I heard that the price back then was about P500k

I’ve seen one of these recently around here, dunno who is selling it. Personally i think the PH needs less cards, less pollution, etc etc.
    Less corrupt politicians…

With the kind of attitude drivers in Metro Manila have, it is not safe to drive that car. A bus can ran you down and KILL you instantly . . tsk tsk

i saw a few here, they’re one of the few tiny electric cars that can go on the freeway.

ask why aren’t chinese and indian cars that cost $4k marketed anywhere? They’re cheap and efficient, but nobody even knows about then.

I’ve seen some related images around the net, but I still have doubts that it could be a big help to our economy.

I highly doubt safety is a concern here in the philippines.. all you have to do is take a look at the taxis. Someone needs to start up a Tessla-type company for the Philippines and market affordable transportation that is perfectly adapted to the transpo needs of Filipinos. Market it wisely and you could eventually see a transformation of small, gas efficient vehicles controlling the roads. Less horsepower, more gas efficiency – cheap price.

Next step – convert all jeeps to biofuel. as much cooking oil as this country uses, owners of vehicles converted to biofuel would only have to look in their kitchen for fuel! The streets smell like food anyway!

I’d say make all the bus lines, gov’t run like in HKG, Singapore or any other modern countries.

They won’t be hustling for passengers any longer, much more orderly. Singapore and Hongkong can , why can’t we?

I’m driving a Smart for two in Denmark where I live at the moment. I’m trying to locate a dealer in Manila since I’m moving to Puerto Princesa, Palawan next year. Does anyone know where to go to buy a smart cabrio? New or used… as long as it’s a Smart ;o)

Well, I live in Palawan, and no we dont know IF there’s a dealer out there even in Manila or Cebu. If there is even one dealer, surely, the unit is 2nd hand. You better have your car ship to Palawan.
