Google hiring Firefox Engineers

Google is really at it. Not only does it pay AdSense publishers $1 per new Firefox user it refers (US residents only), Google is also looking for Software Engineers for the Firefox browser.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years of software development experience in C or C++.
  • Experience developing cross platform client products.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently learn the intricacies of a large scale code base.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and think creatively.
  • Previous experience contributing to open source software projects a plus.
  • More of it here.

“–Several– years of software development experience in C or C++.”

I already got a source code of the Mozilla suite weeks ago to toy around and since it has a large code base it is complex. Well at least if they hire Firefox engineers, then hopefully we will have a Firefox that will be a bit more faster and eat less resource (hopefully, since a common characteristic of cross-platform apps I use or came across with are usually pigs).
