Samsung Innov8 spotted and priced

Yesterday, during a media briefing for Norton/Symantec, I was chatting with several tech journalists about the flurry of high-caliber phones that came out this 3rd quarter when I spotted the recently released 8-megapixel Samsung Innov8.

The phone actually looks more like a point-and-shoot camera than a phone. I took some quick shots using my Nokia N82 (a review unit) below:

samsung innov8

2.8 inches (320×240 pixels)
3G/HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g
8 MP camera (autofocus, image stabilization, face, smile & blink detection, geotagging)
16GB internal storage, 16GB via microSD card
FM radio
GPS
Accelerometer

The backside of the phone, where the camera is mounted, is rock-solid with a stainless steel plating and a very prominent lens housing.

The phone has 16GB of internal storage for all the big-sized photos with a suggested retail price of Php35,000.

@Jay – hehe spy mode. was in a hurry.

@Mark – the picture quality is actually good, very comparable to most Tessar Zeiss on Nokia.

I’ve seen it and it’s a beauty. Some online reviews show promise.

But what i want to verify are:
    1) is the push email, almost like a “direct” push email solution closer to the blackberry service? nokia e71 i don’t find so good, actually disappointed. but LOVE the qwerty.

    2) samsung f480 (tocco) — some say that nokia n95 videos don’t play on the f480 (don’t know why but i’m guessing it’s coz of the video format–3gp).. wonder if it’s the same for innov8?

    3)battery life? comparable to nokia n95 8gb?

Anyone have answers yet? Yuga? Seriously considering this unit. I guess the email solution is the deal breaker.

    Thanks a lot.
