LG makes some of the most practical, feature-specific phones in the market. We saw that with the LG KU250 and the LG KP500 targeting a single specific feature at an affordable price. The LG KS360 is an attempt to take full qwerty messaging to the masses.
Announced in the 3rd quarter last year, the LG KS360 arrived in the Philippines this month. A slider phone with full qwerty keypads, the LG KS360 will have a retail price of just Php8,900. See unboxing photos after the jump.
The LG FB163 kick-ass stereo system, DVD player and iPod dock all in a single compact yet elegant box. Too bad I had to return the unit back after 3 weeks of taking center stage in my living room.
This LG speaker system was waiting for me when I got back home, the FB163 — a 15-kg DVD player and sound system that’s also made for the iPod.
LG Mobile might have wanted to unveil their new touchscreen phone for next week’s World Mobile Congress 2009 but may have been forced to announce it prematurely after a series of leaks — the LG KM900 Arena is official.
LG Mobile is the first one to introduce an affordable, full touchscreen phone in the market. Banking on the popularity of touchscreen devices and marketing it to folks with a limited budget, LG is poised to grab a segment that might just bite the cookie.
LG Mobile sent over their newest and most affordable touchscreen phone last week — the LG KP500. Brought it with me to Germany along with the E63 but unfortunately I forgot the charger. For now, let me share some more additional photos I took along the way.
True to their words, LG Philippines launched today the cheapest fully touchscreen phone in the Philippines - the LG KP500 or the LG Cookie. My prediction of under Php15k was surpassed — it’s actually just Php11,900.
Didn’t know there was such a thing as the CES Innovation Awards and turns out the LG Dare took the prize home in the wireless handset category.
This portable DVD writer from LG is one of the slimmest I’ve seen so far. With a maximum read and write speed of just 8x, it should suffice the occasional need to hook up a netbook to an external optical drive.
LG Electronics may be one of the smaller and silent players in the mobile market but records showed it has made great success with a couple of earlier models. The LG Chocolate ranks as the 4th most popular phone of all time while the LG KU-250 became the first cheap 3G phone in the market. The new LG Secret will attempt to make a name for itself as well.
LG’s new phone in its Black Label Series is the LG Secret (LG KF-750). LG Philippines launched the 5MP, touch screen slider-phone last week with a suggested retail price of Php24,800. Just got a test unit and before the review, let’s me share some ceremonial pictures.
When I was in Gummersbach last month, we had a round-table discussion on tech and mobile phones were among the topics we discussed. I did a quick survey from the 23 country reps and asked which is the most popular phone model in their country.
First heard of this line of 3G phones (LG KU250) a couple months back during a dinner meeting with several Smart executives and MediaQuest President Doy Vea. They mentioned that this LG phone has been chosen by the GSM Association in their “3G for All” campaign. Their February press release indicates at least 12 GSM operators will be introducing this model in their respective networks.

Globe Telecoms was also there with their CEO being quoted saying:
As the first to commercially launch 3G & HSDPA in the Philippines, we at Globe Telecom are most excited with the announcement of the “3G For All” winner in this Congress, as this breakthrough initiative of the GSMA will enable us to improve handset affordability, one of the barriers to 3G service adoption in the Philippines. We believe that there is a huge un-served, mass-market segment in the Philippines which this “3G for All” initiative will address; we look forward to 3G becoming a mass-market proposition within the next years. We commend the GSMA in its efforts to support the industry with a timely and effective market intervention ensuring that the price gap between 2G and 3G handsets is being narrowed by the delivery of this affordable, feature-rich 3G handset.
Inquirer.net also posted the news the other day that Smart made an announcement on the LG unit. The unit will retail for P6,290 (around USD$130) though I think they’ll be much cheaper in Greenhills and street stalls. Before this, there wasn’t any 3G capable phones out there that sells less than Php10 that I know of. On top of the 3G capability, the LG KU250 supports GPRS (but no EDGE), 10MB shared memory and external micro SD card slot, bluetooth and USB as well as a 1.3MP camera.
Second inline from the GSMA recommendation is the Nokia N6151 which has an almost similar features as the LG one but I guess the price was the major deciding factor.
