I think it’s because a lot of websurfers I see navigate from Google itself for absolutely every site they visit. They don’t type in yahoo.com in the browser’s addressbar but instead type “yahoo” or “youtube” as a google search then click on the link from there. It’s strange but a lot of people, especially non-techies, dont even bother with manually typing in the URL at all even for sites they regularly visit. Even my cousin who’s a doctor does this.

I guess that’s why I see a few print ads saying what keywords to type in search engines instead of their actual URL.

    agree with mimi.

i guess it’s a new habit of people now to type in “searches” instead of typing in the actual URL on the address bar.

I’ve seen this several times already. on firefox, they don’t use the address bar. to go to google, they use the google search bar and type “google.” this is mostly true for the secretaries and old foggies at work.

maybe with yahoo, they actually go to the site first and then type the actual search on the search box.

Filipinos really are avid Yahooers..I don’t know why but I think Yahoo! was first introduced to us here in the country. If you observe, even e-mail addresses are generated using yahoomail and not gmail. The only time I used Google search engine was when I learned a little bit about SEO.

yup, tama, mas sinsearch ng users sa search engine yung site na hinaanap nila kesa ilagay yung mismong url sa address bar..
