HTC HD7 hands-on first impression

Listen to article

Probably the most interesting handset in HTC’s Windows Phone 7 line-up is this 4.3-inch HTC HD7. We got our hands on an engineering unit last week, along with our short demo time with the Desire HD and Desire Z.

The HTC HD7 comes real close to the Desire HD in terms of build construction and form factor. It’s a little squarish and less tapering compared to the Desire HD.

The metallic back panel also extends towards the front which gives it an impression that the device is wrapped in a thin case.

HTC HD7 specs:
4.3″ display @ 480×800 pixels
Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor
576MB RAM
8GB & 16GB internal storage
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
802.11 b/g/n
HSDPA, HSUPA
5MP camera w/ 720p video recording
GPS w/ aGPS support
Motion G-sensor
Proximity Sensor
Ambient Light Sensor
Li-Ion 1230 mAh
Windows Phone OS 7

The kick-stand at the back is hidden and doubles as cover for the camera lens and LED flash. Though I prefer the build of the Desire HD, the HD7 feels heavier yet thinner.

We’ve also tried the Windows Phone 7 user interface on the HTC Trophy a couple of weeks back and it looks and works as better on the HD7. More screen real estate is better though you’d really have to use both hands to navigate this handset properly.

Our sources say there’s no definite date for the release of the HTC HD7 nor its pricing. However, the closest estimate is sometime in January 2011 with a price estimate of around Php2k to Php3k more than that of the Desire HD.

in a nutshell…. give the fanboys and fandroids a taste of Office. Once they are addicted and want more features they can upgrade to W8/WP7.

I’m smelling aroung 45K for this. I hope Sir Yuga just wrote the total estimate rather than having to search my way for the Desires price.

So far, the Samsung Focus is being more of a better Win 7 phone than the HD7. Well, that’s on my opinion.

Sir, ignorance excuses no one. Di namin kasalanan kung in your perspective mas kilala mo ang Cherry Mobile over HTC. For me, HTC’s high-end smartphones is even superior to Apple’s. Eh sa Cherry Mobile mo pa kaya?

Bad pricing! All new phones and plans in ph are badly priced! But at least i was able to buy my misus a 32g ip4, PREPAID! Ip4 is more useful with wifi, plus compared to where i am, im only paying 65$aud for a 32g ip4 and what is included in the plan is totally a bang for the buck! I once had an htc pda, it wasnt bad, the thing is, is it gonna be worth the try? If you want good apps for the ip4, anyone can get them for as low as 99c to 150$-based on what ive seen. Ip4 is my 1st apple phone, i was always stuck between nokia commun. and htc pda’s but so far the ip4 hasnt failed me yet. I hope this phone offers a good competition or if not now, in a years time. Btw yuga, i found this great product, im not sure if it is available in ph yet, im not sure if what im gonna type next is appropriate but you should take a look at otterbox products.

The HTC HD 7 probably have the largest display on all Windows Phone 7 handsets. But I’m not sure if you like the kickstand!!!
