Acer unveils Aspire M5, V5 Windows 8 ultrabooks

Acer has announced two new ultrabooks – the Aspire M5 and the Aspire V5. Both have touchscreen variants and will be powered by Windows 8.

First up is the Acer Aspire M5. It carries a 3rd-generation Intel Core i5 processors with Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, 500GB hard drive and 20GB SSD, two USB 3.0 ports, HD display, backlit keyboard and an 8-hour battery life. It will be available in two models – a 14-inch and a 15.6-inch. The 14-inch model has a 10-point multi-touch touchscreen with a body made of aluminum alloy while the 15.6-inch model doesn’t have a touchscreen and has a body made of magnesium alloy.

Both will be available in the US starting October 26th and will have a price tag of $800 for the 14-inch and $700 for the 15.6-inch.

Next is the Acer Aspire V5. It will sport the latest Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors with Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, 500GB or 750GB hard drives, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and USB 3.0 ports. It will be available in four models – the V5-171 (11.6-inch), V5-471P (14-inch), V5-571 and V5-571P (15.6-inch). Units with model numbers that end with “P” will sport a 10-point mult-touch touchscreen. The 14-inch and 15-inch models (V5-471P, V5-571 and V5-571P) will come equipped with slim DVD drives.

The Aspire V5 will also arrive in the US starting October 26th and will have the following price tags: $450 (11.6-inch), $750 (14-inch with touch), $500 (15-inch non-touch) and $700 (15-inch with touch).
