Will Android One save the reputation of local brands?

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: February 18, 2015

Yesterday saw the official launching of Android One in the Philippines and two giant local brands were there to introduce their own version of a low-cost Android One certified smartphone -- Cherry Mobile One and MyPhone Uno. In simpler terms, the Android One Program is like the Google Nexus Program for the mass market (lower C, D and E). While a lot of people are ecstatic about their release, the bigger and perhaps more important question is will Android One improve the rather unpleasant reputation of local brands? We look closely and focus on several of the key issues plaguing…

Want FreeDOS on your brand new laptop?

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: December 15, 2009

Lately, I've been observing that a lot of brand new laptops being sold in stores don't have a proper operating pre-installed. Most of the time, you'd see FreeDOS on the specs sheet along with the uber-cheap price tag. You don't even see Linux or Ubuntu being offered considering that they're also free and they're a fully functional OS already. I guess, because of competition between local laptop brands and the international brands as well as the popularity of low…

Stylish Laptop Bag from TechTote

Received this laptop/netbook bag from TechTote this morning and unlike the previous laptop bags we got (and gave away to readers), this one was designed specifically for the ladies. I'm not one who's great at checking out what's fashionable or not but according to a lady friend who saw it the during unboxing says it cool. Well, I agree that this one has a very eye-catching color (they've got more brightly-colored models available). TechTote calls the color Grape Fizz so that's purple to most of us (I'm a bit color blind). There are two compartments inside (prolly to separate the
