So I looked at how Globe does their capping for unlimited mobile internet (SuperSurf) and found out that their Fair Use Policy has a somewhat similar strategy. Though this time, it’s 800MB per day.
Was wondering at first why they did it on a daily basis instead of monthly then realized that there’s no 30-day SuperSurf for prepaid (just for postpaid).
An 800MB daily cap translates to 24GB per month (30 days) so that seems reasonable. I guess their tagline “Walang Metro” only applies to the time-based not not really the bandwidth.
However, unlike Smart’s Fair Use Policy which throttles you down to a slower speed, Globe’s SuperSurf will totally disconnect you to their network when you reach the daily limit. You can go back and surf again the following day, when your 800MB quota will be refreshed.
Matagal ng may cap ang globe. Nasa website nila mismo http://www.gameops.net/2010/09/globe-telecom-adds-metro-to-super-surf.html
I support CAPS! lol
Seriously, better than then network congestion.
solution:
use “opera turbo” feature in opera browser. i’m sure that you’ll get lower bandwidth since opera turbo compresses all images when you browse the internet.
at least, this is a way for extending your browsing life.
They shouldnt call it unlimited kase sobrang liit nyan. pwede pa unlimited similar with web hosting companies na 999999mb ayan pwede yan tawagin unlimitied pero yung 800mb at 1.5G is useless lalo na ngayun.
In 2011 dadami pa ang mobile device users since lahat ng tech. papunta dun. maiiwan na ang desktop and laptops since mobile users will most likely use their mobile devices for instant research for, restaurants, friends, shopping, travel etc. less hassle kesa ilalabas mo pa ang laptop mo or notebook mo para lang mag google.
@lolipop
the 1.5gb from smart only applies for their postpaid galaxy tab and n8 unli internet plans.
doesnt apply for prepaid.
and besides as yuga states he only discovered it at the smart website. he didnt experienced it first hand. also who knows if its implemented now.
@neo
wait, mas maganda ang smart? Mas maganda ang 1.5Gb limit per month vs 800 Mb limit per day? Really?
Due to the limited frequencies assigned to Globe and other telcos, you should not expect to have unlimited data downloads. Unlimited here means you can stay online indefinitely while you are subscribed to the “unlimited” service and haven’t gotten over the maximum bandwidth (sounds ironic).
Mobile telco’s aren’t designed to accomodate heavy downloads. If you are a heavy user, it’s better to have a wired connection.
just compare globe, smart and sun to a succubus that would suck the fun out from websurfing…
as for me, i am happy with my landline dsl plan.. although it is expensive and i cant connect while on the road, but its internet speed is consistent. so what if i cant connect while on the road, do i really need to watch a youtube video or update my facebook with my ipad or nokia c3 while in edsa??? wala pa akong balak magpakamatay sa kamay ng holdaper.
kakainis tlaga ung 800mb cap. ngaun di na ako makadownload ng torrents. mas maganda ung smart on this. un nga lang wla akong 3g signal dito samin. kaya bumili pa ako ng globe tatoo. pero day 1 pa lg of use prompted na ung 800 mb warning sms. tas kung kelan ka talaga na consume dun rin sya mag resume. ang tagal ko pa nag antay.
yeah right @ commenter mas maganda pa gumamit ng proxy. kaya lg mejo mabagal kumpara sa original setting.
P200/gb.. tas good for 1month pa yun.
Maiba tayo ng topic sir Abe but related to internet din.. Have you heard www.wi-free.com? LEGAL po bang gamitin sa pinas?
im under a postpaid blackberry unlimtd service i consume around 1gb perday for tehtering, not experiencing cap…i guess its a different issue for postpaid..
800 MB is pretty small these days. What if whole day kang online – I’m sure you can consume more than the 800 MB cap.
For Prepaid. You can just unregister your current terminated SuperSurf subscription then register again to get another 800MB. Its like 50pesos/800MB.
Not happening on me on Postpaid SUPERSURF which is 1,200 on top my bill. I’m using iPhone internet tethering to my MacBook. I downloaded more than 15GB a day. Speed still up to 3Mbps and i get about 2.5Mbps.
i was locked out twice, when i downloaded ubuntu and then when i installed programs. I used 2 sims for it. So i guess their tv commercial is not exactly true
@mindyq
cge gumamit ka ng dsl while driving, at the school, mall etc.
just get ADSL or cable internet guys
I want to try the sun unlimited broadband next time
sana naman mas ok and d madalas mawalan ng signal bars everytime i use myglobe tatto0 usb broadband”,
This is the reason why I sold m Globe Tattoo. I’m now with Sun, which is not any better. Crawling speeds…
