0:00Hello from the other side. CJ here. So,
0:03Vivo’s latest V series lineup just got
0:06bigger with the addition of the Vivo V70
0:09FE. While it’s most likely going to be
0:11the more affordable sibling, we think it
0:14doesn’t really skimp on features. For
0:16starters, it boasts a 200 MP
0:19main camera with quite flexible shooting
0:21capabilities, a large 7,000 mA hour Blue
0:24Volt battery paired with 90 watts flash
0:27charge, and an added flare from Vivo and
0:30PopMart Z Siga collab. That said, we’re
0:33going through a list of things that we
0:36like about this phone so far. Let’s get
0:38right into it.
0:42>> [music]
0:45>> When we hear about a new Vivo V series
0:48phone, it’s almost always about
0:50delivering capable cameras. That
0:52expectation still holds true for the
0:54Vivo V70 FE. It boasts a dual rear setup
0:57with a 200 MP main camera paired with an
1:008 MP ultra-wide. Up front’s a 32 MP
1:03selfie shooter. Notably, the main camera
1:05features a larger sensor than last
1:07year’s V70 Lite, allowing for a wider
1:09range of shooting capability. For one,
1:11it allows capturing photos at up to five
1:13times zoom, and the quality is decent
1:15without needing even a telephoto camera.
1:18Second, it brings upgraded multifocal
1:21portrait modes recreating focal lengths
1:23from 23, 35, 50, and up to 85 mm for
1:27that sweet close-up shot. And with AI
1:30super zoom, we noticed that shots taken
1:32at up to 10 times zoom still deliver
1:34some respectable [music] clarity. This
1:36being a Vivo phone, it also comes with
1:38some other nifty AI features both inside
1:41the camera and albums app. We’re glad to
1:43see that AI Magic Weather and AI Magic
1:46Landscape are still here. These features
1:47allow for tweaking the look of your
1:49image to different seasons and
1:51optimizing your landscape shots to make
1:53them as stunning as possible. Capturing
1:55videos also get a nice upgrade with the
1:58Vivo V70 now supporting optical image
2:00stabilization or [music] OIS. So, even
2:03when shooting 4K content at 30 FPS, the
2:06footage remains stable.
2:11>> [music]
2:15>> Plus, if you’re taking portraits under
2:17low lighting conditions, there’s still
2:19the Aura Light feature to boost some
2:21ample lighting to your shots. Despite
2:23maintaining its slim profile measuring
2:25only 7.59 mm, the V70 FE actually packs
2:30a 7,000 mA hour Blue Volt battery
2:32inside. If our research is correct, this
2:35is the largest battery capacity so far
2:37for a Vivo V series model. Thumbs up for
2:39that. That said, we’re expecting more
2:41than 20 hours of battery life since the
2:43standard V70 with a 6,500 mA hour
2:46battery garnered 27 hours and 35 minutes
2:50of uptime in PCMark Work 3.0. We’ll find
2:53out the exact numbers once we get to our
2:55full review, which will come up soon. As
2:57for charging, the V70 FE supports 90
2:59watts flash charge. We honestly like it
3:01when Vivo keeps bypass charging enabled
3:03for all of its recent smartphones,
3:05including the V70 FE. In case you don’t
3:08know, bypass charging lets you set a
3:10threshold of how much charge your
3:12phone’s battery receives. For example,
3:14if you set it to 20%, the battery will
3:16only charge up to that level, and the
3:18phone will then draw power directly from
3:21the wall outlet. The benefit? It keeps
3:23the phone temperature lower even when
3:25you’re using it while charging. By
3:27reducing charge and discharge cycles, it
3:29helps maintain battery health in the
3:31long run. So, it’s a really thoughtful
3:33addition, especially if you’re the type
3:35of person who’s always on your phone all
3:37day. The phone software has also
3:38received a much-needed upgrade. Instead
3:41of FunTouch OS, the V70 FE ships with
3:44Origin OS 6 based on Android 16 out of
3:47the box. If you’ve used a Vivo phone
3:49powered by FunTouch before, you can
3:51definitely notice the difference.
3:53Everything looks visually better with
3:54glass aesthetics, updated icons, and UI.
3:57It feels a lot smoother with more
3:59optimized animations. You also get tons
4:01of new customization options, including
4:03some exclusive content from Vivo and
4:06PopMart Z Siga collaboration. Not only
4:08does this beloved character appear in
4:10wallpapers and lock screens, there are
4:12also exclusive photo borders in the
4:14camera app to add some cutie design to
4:16your snaps. The OS is also much more
4:19interactive with the addition of Origin
4:21Island. For some context, it makes use
4:23of the selfie camera notch where various
4:25notifications and live activities pop
4:27up. I find this extremely useful for
4:29when I’m listening to music. I can just
4:32tap on the Origin Island and control the
4:34playback right there. Overall, we really
4:37like the aesthetics and new
4:38functionalities from the Origin OS 6.
4:40[music] I especially appreciate the
4:42consistent blur effects throughout the
4:44system. They’re beautifully implemented
4:46without noticeably impacting day-to-day
4:48performance.
4:49>> [music]
4:49>> And speaking of performance, the phone
4:51is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity
4:537360 Terbo. Our unit comes with 8 GB of
4:57RAM plus additional 8 GB of extended
4:59memory [music]
5:00for a total of 16 GB
5:02paired with 256 GB of internal storage.
5:05It’s a mid-range chip, but it’s more
5:06than capable of handling a wide range of
5:08tasks from productivity apps and
5:10entertainment to phone and video capture
5:13with some gaming on the side. The next
5:15likable thing about this phone is its
5:17display. The Vivo V70 FE sports a large
5:206.83-inch flat AMOLED display with a
5:23crisp 1.5K resolution and up to 120 Hz
5:26refresh rate. And notice the bezels?
5:28Aside from being thin, we also like that
5:31the bezels look uniform all around. If
5:33you’re outdoors quite often, then you’ll
5:35appreciate that the phone actually peaks
5:37at 1,900 nits in high brightness mode or
5:40HBM. That means the screen is still
5:43fairly visible under direct sunlight. A
5:45major addition to the V70 FE is it’s now
5:48using symmetrical dual stereo speakers
5:51improving the overall multimedia
5:53experience. It delivers a more balanced
5:55audio as well as a more immersive audio
5:58experience for movies and games. Of
6:00course, we can’t ignore this loud yet
6:03elegant design of the Vivo V70 FE. Our
6:06unit is in this Muse purple colorway,
6:08and as you can see, it has this subtle
6:11gradient shimmer, and the overall colors
6:13adjust dynamically based on the angle.
6:16It’s also available in ocean blue and
6:18urban silver if you want a more sedate
6:20look. The camera deco has also gotten
6:23smaller, which is actually a welcome
6:25change as it’s more minimal reducing
6:27visual clutter. It just complements well
6:29with the back panel design. For extra
6:31peace of mind, the Vivo V70 FE is IP68
6:35and IP69 rated for dust and water
6:37resistance. Mind you, that’s already a
6:40flagship level protection where you can
6:42technically submerge the phone in clean
6:44water for up to 2 hours at 1.5 m depth
6:48without it taking any damage. That said,
6:50as we always remind you, this protection
6:52is only an added safeguard and can
6:55degrade over time. It’s still best to
6:57keep your phone away from water and
7:00harsh elements whenever possible. So,
7:02those are some of the nice features that
7:04we spotted on the Vivo V70 FE so far.
7:06From its capable cameras down to its
7:08software experience, there are plenty of
7:11solid features to see with this new
7:12model. And at the end of the day, the
7:14Vivo V70 FE seemed to deliver where it
7:17matters the most for everyday use. In
7:19our opinion, it performs just as good as
7:22its higher-end counterparts. Stay tuned
7:24for our full review, which will come up
7:26very soon. Well, that’s it for this
