It seems like Nikon has taken a huge leap as the company recently announced its first full-frame mirrorless cameras that are said to pit against the Sony A7III and A7RIII, the Nikon Z6 and the Z7.
Both the Nikon Z6 and the Z7 shares the same design, but they differ in some areas, including the megapixel count, the number of focus, and the range of ISO. The Z7 is equipped with a 45.7MP BSI FX-FORMAT SENSOR, while the Z6 is at 24.5MP and also sports the same sensor. You’d also be glad to know that both cameras have a 5-axis in-camera stabilization. The latter’s ISO can go up to 51,200 while the former is only at 25,600. This clearly means that the Z6 is going to perform really well in low-light. According to Nikon, these cameras are feather light compared with some DSLRs that are out in the market.
Both the Z6 and the Z7 sport a 3.69 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 100 percent frame coverage and 0.8x magnification, as well as a 3.2-inch 2.1 million-dot tilting touchscreen LCD with 170-degree viewing angle. They are both capable of recording videos in 4K up to 30fps, and 1080p up to 120fps. You can say that it’s quite a bummer that both cameras can’t shoot in 4K 60fps, and that they don’t have an articulating screen. Also, you will only get one XQD memory slot.
As for connectivity, both cameras have WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type C connector (SuperSpeed USB), and HDMI. Also, both cameras feature Z mount with 55-millimeter mount width and 16mm flange distance.
The Z6 has a starting price of USD1,999.95PHP 117,368INR 169,495EUR 1,905CNY 14,556 (~Ph106,999.32p) for the body only, while the Z7 is at USD3,399.95PHP 199,528INR 288,145EUR 3,238CNY 24,746 (~Php181,900.72USD 3,100INR 262,774EUR 2,952CNY 22,574), also for the body only. Local availability and pricing are yet to be announced.
