Xiaomi’s Redmi has launched the Note 14 Pro+ 5G earlier this month. That’s exactly around the same time last year when the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G was released. So, you might be wondering: Which device is the right one for you? Is the upgrade from the 13 Pro+ to the 14 Pro+ worth it?

One of the biggest changes with the two Note Pro+ devices is the design. The Note 13 Pro+ was a fingerprint magnet around the top half of the phone. It also came with a plastic chassis and a dual-tone glass-like rear. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a aluminum composite frame while having a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i at the rear.
The camera island on the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is located at the top left side of the device. The flash and Redmi logo are across from it on the other side. The Note 14 Pro+, though, has its camera island and LED flash right on the middle of the smartphone. You can spot the Redmi logo right at the bottom.
Both devices share the same IP68 dust and water resistance certification.
Both Redmi smartphones have the same display sporting a 6.67-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED while having 120Hz refresh rate. They also share the same 2712 x 1220 resolution.
What improved with the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ are the peak brightness and glass protection. While the Note 13 Pro+ uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5, its successor now has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protecting the front.
Meanwhile for peak brightness, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ can go up to 3,000 nits while the predecessor only has up to 1,800 nits.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. Meanwhile, the predecessor uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra.
We can expect both devices to have similar performances in processing power. They are almost equal in performance.
Although both devices can go up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ uses better memory and storage technology.
The predecessor uses LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage while the successor has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
In the camera department, while they both share the same rear cameras, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ uses a slightly better 20MP selfie camera. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has a 16MP front sensor.
Selfie enjoyers will surely benefit from the incremental upgrade on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+.
A slightly improvement is in battery. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a 5,110mAh battery while the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is juiced up by a 5,000mAh battery. They both share the same charging speed support of 120W.
Based on our full reviews, the Note 14 Pro+ has a PCMark Battery Test result of 12 hours and 41 minutes. Meanwhile, the Note 13 Pro+ garnered a score of 12 hours and 2 minutes. While there is an increase in capacity, its battery life is almost similar.
The Note 14 Pro+ runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android 14 out of the box. It’s not the latest version, however, as HyperOS 2 has already been released.
Other than that, both smartphones share the same dual stereo speakers, Dolby Vision and Atmos, and have an IR blaster.
