The rollout will begin in August 2026 when the PS3 PlayStation Store closes in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern markets will follow later in 2026. In all remaining countries, the PlayStation Store for both the PS3 and PS Vita will close in July 2027.

Once the store closes, players will no longer be able to buy games, DLCs or other digital content on these devices. However, Sony says users will still be able to download previously purchased content for the foreseeable future.

According to Sony, the closure is necessary due to the PS3 and PS Vita platforms can no longer support the modern payment processing and commerce systems used by the PlayStation Store.

The company added that it is shifting its resources toward newer PlayStation platforms.
